The poor, helpless congressman had his life upended by the vindictive, money-hungry child!
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

Klein's "Charlie Kirk was doing politics the right way" line is particularly telling here. It had nothing to do with the facts of Kirk's life and actions, and everything to do with belief. If Kirk *wasn't* doing politics the right way, Klein's own interactions with him seem naive and foolish.

Turning your viral thread defending your ex-employer’s relationship with the world’s most notorious sex criminal into a plug for your new gig is vile. The glib smiley-face emoticon is tone-deaf and a perfect encapsulation of why the media was never capable of meeting this moment.

NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

The physical abuse of children by adult men is an actual plank of all right-wing political thought, a thing they believe in strongly and govern to enable, not just something thousands of them happen to do. Fascism is a politics of violent mastery and no one's easier to do that to than a child.
NEW FOIA Files SCOOP: The FBI redacted Trump’s name—and the names of other prominent public figures—from the Epstein files under two privacy exemptions before DOJ & FBI concluded “no further disclosure” of the files “would be appropriate or warranted.”

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

They believe that because it is true, and it is the job of society to correct that impression by making it very visibly and painfully not true to everyone who believes it in the near future
