Got news of the death of a woman I used to know who was a friend of my kid sister and therefore always a kid in my eyes. They should have stood up to the bullies and fought for trans girls. I teach my girlguiding daughter to stand up for people who are being picked on but this organisation has failed to model those values. They let the bullies win. A lifelong commitment to guiding is now broken for my family. 💔

I feel like we're approaching a moment where American liberals finally realise why violent uprisings happen under oppresive regimes in other countries. Because who do you report a despot to when he controls everything? Your democratic institutions might not be able to save you.

I hate how every nation is living down to its stereotype because I’m trained to look for complexity in things, yet the USA is run by a caricature of crony capitalism that Soviet propaganda would consider too unsubtle, Russia is run by a Bond villain, the UK is speedrunning Children of Men, etc.
