Very interesting that the money lost by colleges almost matches the money the Ontario government committed to its Skills Development Fund to distribute to its friends

New post-secondary figures obtained by the Star reveal massive revenue losses, expected to get worse with the latest federal cuts to foreign students.

What an insufferable snot @radiofreetom.bsky.social is being.
"Correct" is one word
There is no word in the English language that can truly describe the kind of extreme WASP, prep school fuddy-duddies that you and George Will are on this subject.

It’s as though a pair of pleated khakis with an undersized inseam became sentient and began having opinions.

This isn’t a “peace plan.” It’s a blueprint for Ukraine’s capitulation. If implemented, it would turn this pro-Western, democratic nation, which has been courageously resisting Russian aggression since 2014, into a Kremlin colony. wapo.st/3XcRot6
Opinion | Ukraine needs Russia’s frozen $200 billion immediately, Europe
With Trump seeking Kyiv’s capitulation to Russia, now is the moment for decisive European action.

Right. Nuzzi has been old enough to enlist in combat for 15 years, old enough to marry in most US states for 14 years, old enough to vote for 14 years. But at 32, she cannot be credited with any agency in sexual relationships with older men because she's... a frail flower? a woman? Why exactly?
It remains hilarious to me that Ryan Lizza is seemingly oblivious to the fact that he, too, was just a creepy older man taking advantage of Olivia Nuzzi

Faced with furious local opposition, Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston says plans to hand over a large part of West Mabou Beach Provincial Park to a multi-millionaire golf course developer will not proceed.

Huge win for grassroots opponents led by magnificent Katie Beaton.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

We're fighting a civil war, but while supporting Lincoln, let's pause to consider John C. Frémont's shortcomings as Republican candidate for president in 1856.
Yeah man I never criticize Republicans. I’ve just dedicated my entire professional career to undermining the political right that’s all. Clearly I can only do that and never ask the Democrats to do their fucking part.
Yes, in the face of the worst authoritarian administration in the last 150 years, it's best to focus your attacks on your own side's imperfections rather than on the party that is actually trying to dismantle American democracy.

It's noteworthy that both the New York Times and The Washington Post have columns praising Donald Trump's demolition of the East wing to make way for a garish, Mar-A-Lago style ballroom funded by donations from corporations that profit from contracts with his government.

Why did @cbcnews.ca and @cattunney.bsky.social let the government mouthpieces speak anonymously? If the government wants to defend its proposed intrusions on the rights of Canadians, let it do so forthrightly, in public view.

"Secrecy, money, and contempt for the public." @katebeaton.bsky.social digs up more dirt on Ben Cowan-Dewer's schemes to convert public parkland to private, for-profit golf courses.

He's done it before. In Florida. In secret dealings with Trump toady Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Let's stop this scoundrel!
I dug a bit into Cabot’s dealings with the Florida gov over state parkland last year. What I read should be a warning to Nova Scotians. In short, secrecy, money and contempt for the public. The post was to inform my local community on fb, but here it is with links: www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/37x8c...
