I was fortunate enough to reads bits of this wonderful little book while it was being drafted and I still think about Bennett’s insights into teaching Shakespeare constantly. I hope this book wins lots of awards and finds an impassioned readership
Exciting news! My Element, Teaching Shakespeare's Theatre of the World, has been released in a digital edition (paperback coming soon!) by Cambridge UP. Even better, it's FREE to download until 15 December 2025! So many thanks to all who helped along the way! <3

Once again, it's striking how the Editorial Board of the Washington Post is comprised by a bunch of soulless ghouls. Never once has a single member of the board claimed that M4A is "must-pass legislation," but when it comes to the largest military spending bill on the planet...

Add me to the long list of people who will never, ever purchase another Microsoft product in their lives. This kind of forced adoption is nothing more than selfish, psychopathic, schoolyard bullying. #FuckMicrosoft #ThenNowForever

Jeffries is really going out of his way to get primaried, isn't he?
Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."

Easily the dumbest thing I've read this week (the article, not the book-you couldn't pay me to read this tabloid tripe masquerading as non-fiction).

It's like if misogyny, entitlement and white supremacy had a baby.

Even by the standards of The Atlantic, this is an extraordinarily weak evidence base for an article.

Data from a tiny handful of schools that isn't measuring the variable at issue and a few thin, secondhand anecdotes.

There is an extraordinary sense of entitlement behind the belief that others should act in such a cowardly, subservient manner as you choose to do.
There is an extraordinary sense of entitlement behind the belief that there ought to be political party that aligns 100% with your own opinions.

Personally, I think it's been obvious for years that mediocre intellects with a niche talent say stupid shit like "social media accounts are foreign trolls" because they lack the education and interest in engaging with differing opinions, so they cast a wide net of Othering to feign reasonableness.

I'm not as clued in to the day-to-day stuff on the Epstein files, but given Trump's recent comments about how it's only a problem for Democrats, shouldn't we be at all concerned that what is released will be curated?

Why would we trust anyone in this administration to be honest?

I guess we can add Andrew Doyle to the list of self-important fuckwits who want to pretend that aligning themselves with a far-right hate group is normal.

Can't believe that this "news is what we say it is" thread is still up. The only thing more shocking is the end of this thread, where she asks people to subscribe to her current endeavor.

The unintentional admission of standards being different for different people is pretty hilarious, tho, ngl.
As a former member of NYT’s finance team & the co-author of this story exposing the relationship between Epstein & Bill Gates as well as one on Epstein & JPMorgan, I am really frustrated to see people claiming that NYT sat on publishable info about Trump and Epstein 🧵 www.nytimes.com/2019/10/12/b...

"Legitimize an illegitimate attack against the arts" is some really, really entitled stuff. It won't surprise you to learn that the author of this nonsense has a degree in Anthropology that she has somehow convinced herself entitles her to be called a journalist.

"You all don't get it. The only way to stop fascism is to elect the political party that has spent the entire second Trump term aiding and abetting fascism."

Only our oppressors can save us, apparently.

I know it's en vogue for mediocre Americans to abandon critical thought, but this is pathetic.
Unfortunately in this moment we have zero choice. We don’t show up we get fascism. Simple as that. It’s the easiest choice there has ever been yet people won’t see it that way unless something happens within the inept party. We might just deserve all this as we can never get out of our own way.

On one hand, it's pretty disgusting to suddenly force ads like this, especially onto people who had previously purchased the product.

On the other hand, if you're the type of person to drop $3,500 on a "smart refrigerator," then maybe you deserve this?
