JD Vance Munich Speech has become the Vance Doctrine.

Actionable policy which includes and prescribes direct interference into EU democratic processes by supporting far right and Eurosceptic parties.

If this is not the final wake up call Europe, I don't know what is.

There’s something doubly grating about the pious invocation of “Western civilization” by the sort of incurious dolt who wouldn’t know a Titian canvas, a Beethoven quartet, or a Socratic dialogue if whapped them upside the head.
It has long been clear that unalloyed racism lies at the core of Trumpism, and he is becoming increasingly explicit about this.

The essence of Blue Labour thought is that somewhere in Downing Street there is a button marked “reindustrialise” that Tony Blair could have pressed, but instead he opted for the “more Woke Studies” button.
My brother in Christ, reindustrialization is based on international capital flows, not dumbass ideas to move down the value chain by turning colleges into vocational schools. You do realize that modern industry is almost always *high* skilled automation?

Read your Michael Pettis, you utter clown.
No reindustrialising? Our academic institutions are a part of the problem, overproducing elites and funnelling them into bullshit unproductive jobs. Half the universities need to close or become vocational colleges. You didn't even mention productivity.

Brexit is in the past. That ship has sailed.

The deal to open a secret tank school in Kazan was signed #OTD in 1926. Even though Germany paid most of the costs, a considerable number of Soviet specialists were also trained there, including engineers who later put German ideas into practice for themselves. #tanks #history

An attack on the American people... Because we are applying our laws. This American administration is now an enemy, my fellow Europeans. The sooner we realize this, the better the odds of fending them off.
Why should Europeans stop governing how services and products are placed on their market?

America would never give up its regulatory sovereignty.

It’s a pointless dream, but what if top-level footballers were to get together and say “ok, bollocks to it all”, and this catastrophic buffoon, this drooling sycophant, this Vaseline-based lifeform were simply left holding his dick and wondering where the sponsors went.
this shit is just beyond parody, man

The current US administration is a hostile actor but before making any long term predictions about the impact of its actions it is worth keeping its level of competence and cohesion in mind
The New Cold War is against nationalist authoritarianism, and the US is on their side.
Little (open) sign that Europe has even begun to grapple with this.

As far as I can see, this nat sec strategy is far harsher on Europe than on Russia. There is no mention of a threat from Russia or of deterrence, only that "re-establishing strategic stability" is a priority. Europe is cast as a major threat to freedom. A radical, dangerous document.

The new National Security Strategy is a propaganda document, designed to be widely read. It is also a performative suicide. Hard to think of another great power ever abdicating its influence so quickly and so publicly. It will be worth following the reactions around the world, not just in Europe.

As a European I’d love to see America return to its civilizational values.
Trump's national security strategy puts great emphasis on "competence and merit" and "civilizational advantage". This administration personifies the opposites.

It is true that the E.U is overregulated. Thing is though, the regulations the Trump administration complains about are our food safety regulations. Regulations which Trump himself promised to Americans, and isn't delivering.

We tend to forget there is a long history of anti-european sentiments in USA. Over a century ago Americans wrote about two emerging powers contesting 'decadent' Europe - USA and... Russia.
Current US administration is formed from nationalists who are as alien and hostile to Europe as Russians are.

For those of you saying "no, the answer is throwing out our system of government": no system (certainly no democracy) protects against the electorate being idiots. We have plenty of guardrails, but we've collectively made them worthless by our own lousy choices.

The problem is not the pardon power. The problem is us. We weren't supposed to elect a crook as POTUS. If we did, the people we elected in Congress are supposed to do something about it. We're idiots, so we've elected crooks & cowards all the way up the line.

The problem is us. We need to fix us.
Giving the president the pardon power was a mistake. The most corrupt president in American history is conducting a jailbreak for his fellow criminals.

What struck me most on Europe wasn’t the focus on value, freedom of speech etc - again, very similar to Vance’s Munich speech - but how activist it is. This is about directly trying to influence what is going on in Europe:
