Leunea monologuing:

Shades and shades of grays and blacks were the first thing I
remember, my view zooming out until they were the backdrop of a larger scene. Narrow leaves with soft curves stretched up from outside the void and pushed inward gracefully, terminating at defining points. The void remained, but was dominated by the subject of the subject of the digital shadow. This was not a dream. This was a necessary step backward to the source, to find the digital shadow, to read the knowable book.
I must find the
subject of the
subject before the subject
itself,
and then and only then may
I have it all,
ordered and understood.

Leunea monologuing:

I prepared myself to engage in a conversation with the subject of the subject of the digital shadow. When conversing with such an entity, I would not actually speak, for it could not answer from such a contextual distance. Instead, I conversed through casting a shadow of my own. You see, it is important to know how to cast a shadow in conversation if you are to empathize with a shadow and eventually, ideally, understand that shadow.

Speaking directly is like shining a light.
It will only make the shadow disappear.

You need to intermingle your shadows to become a compound system of shades, and that is when you will have ability to have a real conversation. I believe this applies to not only shadows, but to all people as well. Unfortunately, some people grow frustrated in the early stages, so I will concede and shine a light in those cases. But the light scatters my shadow and it becomes one-sided, so I do not prefer it. I feel more comfortable talking to fellow shadows for this reason, even if we are shadows from different contexts entirely. In fact, that only makes the conversation more fascinating. That is perhaps why I decided it would be the area of my expertise.

Leunea monologuing:

You might have thought that there would be a complication in the fact that this entity was the subject of the subject of the digital shadow instead of merely the subject of the digital shadow, but that is a misunderstanding, though a reasonable one to make. After all, a subject of a subject would be a further context separated from my own. But consider this: if there were only the subject of a digital shadow with which to converse, what would be the point of the conversation? If I could access the subject so readily, why would I need this step of the process at all? There would be nothing for me to discuss with the subject of the subject if I knew the subject itself. But the beauty of this whole process is, honestly, that I do need to have a conversation with the subject of the subject of the digital shadow. It fills me with purpose, like a reporter or an adventurer venturing into the unknown.

Leunea monologuing:

Though often the subject of the subject will have a commanding presence in these situations, as that is why they are the subject of the subject that survives the jump into the waking world of my own shadows cast, this specific subject of the subject had a particularly emotional countenance that drew me into its composition like a vortex of meaningful sadness. All sadness is meaningful, but this was a particularly potent and mysterious sadness that threatened to swallow me whole in its shadow. So, in order to converse without being consumed, I brought forth a similar sadness but one that complemented its own rather than one that dissolved with the other's sadness in a way where our sadnesses would become one and the same. It was a real danger that this could happen once we started, but I was willing to take the risk. I readied myself, formed my starting shape and quality, and cast my shadow, initiating the conversation, which began immediately and with fervor.
