I'm here because it's not formerly known as Twitter. I have a collection of nerdy interests, chief among them at the moment would be board games. I suppose one could call me a geekly. Used to podcast, would be down to again under the right circumstances.

Anyone who says “be normal” betrays that they have an implicit value system of who is considered normal and who is not, and when you have that, you will always value some people and traits over another. They will always replicate hierarchies of power in the long run.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

the reason why those "the left made me do ___" things ring so hollow is that Trump has been, since 2015, the primary actor in US politics. everything, in some shape or form, has been a reaction to his assault on the sanctity of the US constitutional order
2020-2021 was a particularly bad time but as long as Trump kept upping the ante the polarization was going to happen anyway

Is there an overdiagnosis of mental health issues nowadays? Or - and I might be going out on a limb here - was there conceivably feasibly imaginably maybe perchance perhaps potentially possibly a slight chance that until recently we have had an UNDERdiagnosis of mental health issues? Just a theory.

I know no one is asking for this, but I'd be so down for remakes/remasters of the Shadow Hearts series (or alternately, have a modrern rpg update/steal the combat system). If the bit in the parenthetical exists, feel free to point me at it.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

I got offered a LOT of money to host an official HP podcast and turned it down immediately. I’m assuming since I am not a podcaster that they have an extremely long list of people who have also said no to this. Dunno what‘s going on with the actors but the comics are holding the line lol
Once again thinking about every actor trying to justify taking the money for the new HP series.

Holy shit Jeffries sucks. He sucks so, so bad. You could not build a worse opposition leader in a fucking lab. He absolutely has to go. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."

If they were even halfway intelligent it would dawn on J.D. Vance and some others that the only hope they have is to 25th Amendment Trump and spend the next year handing out checks to people while trying to memory-hole all of this ugliness, but they're gonna go down with this ship I guess.

If 20 people are using a program, it helps 10 people who need it and the other 10 are benefiting despite not needing it…the program is good. This isn’t a debate.

And the actual ratios on real programs are an order of magnitude weighted more towards the people who need it

I don't think anything I say will be anywhere near as funny as the idea that any president, much less this dipshit, can prevent hurricanes.
Kristi Noem: "Sir, you made it through hurricane season without a hurricane. You kept the hurricanes away. We appreciate that."

Why can't the right win without gerrymandering?
Why can't the right uphold free speech when it isn't about them?
Why can't the right mind their own business?
Why is the right the party of Fuck Your Feelings until it's time to joke about that mediocre podcaster who caught one in the neck?
The real question is not "Why is Bluesky so left-coded," the real question is "Why can't the right exist in a social media environment without algorithmic assistance, where people can ignore them"

I've long been of the opinion that News of the World separates early Queen from the band that they became after expanding beyond the scope of what has come to be defined as classic rock. That I don't like Queen after this point is more or less irrelevant...
