Ideas I saw from the
screechers last night and this morning -
-turn the entire govt over to the GOP
-primary every existing dem
-abolish the senate altogether
-abolish our political system altogether

This from the people too afraid to argue with Grandma last year at dinner about voting dump again

Leaders Lead with Leadership, No I Will Not Specify How
They would simply step in and handle it, of course.

Let's talk new Senate minority leaders and the magic ability they'd have to get squishy moderate Senators to fall in line that Schumer doesn't have.

The path forward really was to force Republicans to open the government through chicanery or ending the filibuster and still doesn't give us enhanced subsidies.

And I don't know what you'd have to give them for that and you can still keep the caucus onside, let alone the party activists.

Where I am, for what little it is worth, is that the defectors were in fact defectors, and they blew the political opportunity. But we were not on the verge of extending the enhanced subsidies unless you can think of a way to get *House* Republicans on board.

A lot of people are conflating the ability of senate Democrats, the minority, to inflict political damage to Republicans by holding fast on the shutdown, and their ability to extract immediate and powerful policy concessions.

This till the end of time.
Schumer ain’t your enemy.
White voters and brogressives don’t ever do the right thing then demand everything be fixed to their liking.
Yall want Democrats to create miracles out of vibes when we needed to give them votes to put/keep them in power.

Say it with your whole chest. That means some hostages die.
That's not what I wanted. I wanted them to make Republicans pay politically for their hostage taking, even if that means some hostages die. I wanted this because the Republicans are killing hostages already, and the longer they're in power the larger the total number will be.

Thank you. I was going to say something like that. Dems don't have a magic button. What was the end game here? It looks like there were no good options. Voters handed the federal government to reactionary nihilists. But as ever, only Dems have agency.

I learned a lot tonight, namely that a critical mass of people on my side had no clear idea what they actually wanted out of this beyond hopes that if the shutdown broke enough stuff, they'd get whatever was on their wishlist, and their preferred time horizon was "indefinite."

People want Democrats to hit the off button that America refused to push last November when it mattered.

I need everyone to take the time today to learn about incremental change and then consider how much incremental change was flushed down the toilet last November. It took DECADES TO GET WHERE WE WERE.

This is wtf we were trying to tell the whites!!!!! So now the goal is to what? Forget that?

Shit is going to be fucked up as a result of them refusing to vote for the qualified Black woman and if you thought that we were going to keep it all you’re delusional. People still need to eat. People still need to work. If people had shown the fuck up in November we wouldn’t be here

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

White people have friends & family who can confront them on how the racist & bigoted views they cheer on for sport create harm because pivoting to this excuses the other white people who refuse to confront that behavior. Then we get voting patterns like this while people are scared to rock the boat.

A lot of us really don’t need to be lectured by whiny children of the chalk that need to fall in love in order to vote in both a primary & general election within the same cycle, whose main contribution to most discussions is suppressing the vote & shitting on the people they claim to support.

Ossoff who voted no while being arguably the most vulnerable 2026 Senator? The youngest Senator? The progressive former investigative filmmaker who eviscerates Republicans any time he’s in a Committee? Well he is a Jewish guy so it makes sense these antisemitic morons wouldn’t want him reelected.
