New Genevieve tune for you this Halloween! We’ve released a lot of one-offs this year and this is easily the one I’m most proud of. Had an absolute blast making this lush, spooky jam with my best buds. experimentalgenevieve.bandcamp.com/album/the-em...

It's my last day of classes, with our final exam week taking place immediately upon return from Thanksgiving break next week. Y'all, whoever wrote this academic calendar is very not ready for how disastrous this is about to be.

We at Prince George’s Community College are closing in on 600 days of bargaining without a contract in sight. I was extraordinarily proud to stand with my colleagues and read and present our petition demanding a fair contract at bargaining today.

The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

Nobody wants this shit. Nobody.

The hostile reaction has been so pronounced, in fact, that it feels like a company announcing it would never force AI into its products would carve out a pretty good chunk of the market.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

I recently watched this again for the first time in a few years and it really holds up way better than I imagined it would. The sequels, not so much. But this is still very funny and so full of joy and creativity!

Few things bug me more than higher ed leaders saying that we lost our mission and lost the trust of the public, when we have actually been the target of a decades-long smear campaign by the right wing that worked. The moment we’re losing our mission is right now, in capitulation.

Hrmmm.... macOS Tahoe 26.1 seems to have broken my ability to use my MacBook Air (M4) in clamshell mode with an external display.

Anyone else run into similar issues?

I take a rather silly amount of pride in how happy my dog is. My wife and I have tried really hard to provide him with a good and comfortable home and I find joy in knowing that he is comfortable and knows he is safe and oh so loved.

If, like me, you don't have local elections today, take a moment to figure out how you can plug-in locally. Organizations like DSA offer incredible opportunities for all kinds of community work. Or if that's not your bag, find a local mutual aid where you can donate. All kinds of ways to make change
If you’re distraught and horrified by the current direction of the United States like I am, I implore you to take a few minutes out of your day to look up what’s on your ballot and where your nearest polling place is, and go vote in your local elections. Change and progress happens at all levels.

Not a hard question, except for the culture that pretends it's not the answer

1) right-wing media lies incessantly, so anyone truth-based doesn't trust it, and anyone who trusts it doesn't trust anything else

2) other media treats those lies as legitimate, for "fairness," getting trust from no one
