“When I did the first Muppet Movie poster, Jim Henson told me that I painted his characters exactly the way he feels about them.”

Muppet Movie poster that I printed up and hung at work a while back. It’s beautiful.

Annoyed Old Person Rant: If I say someone is available between X Time and Y Time, Y Time is when the availability ENDS. I thought this was obvious, and yet I have spoken to three people today who were all "Yes, let's start at Y Time!" and then were shocked to hear that wasn't possible.

Yepppp, @charlottestein.bsky.social is one of three authors who have written books that I Cannot Read in Public Lest I Die of Blushing.

(the other two are Sierra Simone and Jo Graham)

After reading Dealing with a Desperate Demon, I picked up a bunch of Charlotte Stein's backlist from the library.

I was not prepared for the level of filth.

Watched "The Natural" for the first time yesterday, and my thoughts are:

1) Robert Redford *swoon*
2) Let's play Count the Arthurian Nods
3) The lighting in this movie is amazing
4) Subtext is for Other People Not Appearing in This Film
5) Hi Richard Farnsworth I still love you
6) That ENDING.

Is life often terrible? Yes.
Are there still always people out there going “Let’s make a cool ass thing for other people to see?” Also yes.

#Fridayreads I'm a little over halfway through @tessagratton.bsky.social's The Mercy Makers, and I am BLOWN AWAY. This book is equivalent to Kushiel's Dart in its intricacy, sensuality, focus on faith and its influence on every aspect of life, and worldbuilding. I'm enthralled.

“We are the salt of the earth… and never forget - salt always melts ICE.”

We are in a moment where we must choose faith over fear, justice over injustice, courage over silence.

So proud to stand with all of you who are choosing faith over fear right now.

Chili cheese Fritos. The trashiest of trash food. Once a year when I am home alone, I buy a bag and crunch on them while watching TV until I'm covered in chili dust.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

I have said my entire life that Bradbury's prose never translated well to film.

But this movie TRIED, by god.

Speaking as a former bookstore employee...no, please no, they will have to keep this in a VAULT, can you imagine the mingled smells of people trying to read this in a cafe? Think of your already-exhausted bookseller.

Jennifer L. Armentrout and Hellmann's
In a promotion designed for BookTok enjoyment, Jennifer L. Armentrout’s just-published THE PRIMAL OF BLOOD AND BONE is available in a special, limited-edition "garlic-scented copy, infused with Hellmann’s Garlic Aioli to create a one-of-a-kind, Craven-proof book." They explain: "This exclusive edition is printed with garlic-infused ink, designed to ward off Armentrout’s bloodthirsty monsters, the Craven. While humans may dread garlic breath, Hellmann’s has cleverly transformed this social faux pas into an unexpected – and delicious – form of supernatural protection."

I have dreamed about a fictional mall so many times that I could probably draw a map of it. Past the big pet store, left by the candy store, there's a secret extra corridor in the food court and a second (also secret) bookstore with a hidden entrance by the arboretum...
merrittk.com
are there any fictional places that recur in your dreams? i often dream about a concrete staircase like you might find in a parking garage that goes down miles into the earth. at the bottom people are either partying at an avant garde art show or sheltering from the apocalypse
