I'm gonna be real honest man, the fact that we have to keep constantly exhorting everyone to call their elected representatives every other day to say "please do not sign off on the Make Life Worse For Everyone Bill please" is intensely degrading, and also a pretty poor sign for a functional society

As awful as this, the focus on whether the woman was complying obscures the more important issue: in a democracy, there should not be armed agents demanding to see papers of every passing person.
“Traumatized, humiliated, degraded.”

The nurse, a US citizen, 4’11”, 85 lbs, says she was following orders when she was dragged out of her car by masked immigration agents in Florida.

It was the 3rd time she had been stopped and told to produce ID.

Or! Just hear me out. 1. It doesn't matter if someone is lying. It's more important that disabled people have access to education. 2. Those accommodations benefit everyone? Oh, no more time a on a test? That's a good thing. Universal design is a thing.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

oh so these people do pay attention to who politicians follow on social media, they just don’t care that the vice president follows a bunch of actual neo-nazis

And no, they do not cause autism.

I remember back in the day, I hooked up an elderly neighbor with a nurse friend to try to sort out her medication list from multiple doctors.
I think now, every tech person should get with their elderly neighbors and help them sort out their SaaS subscriptions. Serious overcharging there.

My general rule of them is if you or anybody else finds yourself saying “why didn’t you just…” that’s a good indication that there is a deeper complexity at work that countless smart people have tried to fix

One in four nursing homes have said they’ll close facilities because of the “Big, Beautiful Bill” – and they passed it anyway.

Talk to, essentially, ANY families who have moved someone into long term care recently. There’s not exactly a surplus of facilities around today…

Disabled kids like mine rely on Medicaid to survive; this bill cuts Medicaid.

I don't know how else to say that medically complex disabled children will die as a result of this bill.

TL;DR: You can block website trackers via changing settings, installing privacy-protecting extensions, or switching to a new browser.
This is how you stop data trackers from sucking up your health data – The Markup
The Markup and CalMatters found multiple ways consumers can block the trackers quietly sending your data to tech companies, including those used on state-run health exchange websites.

I worry that the focus on NOAA's weather predicting value is ignoring the millions of other ways NOAA researchers enrich communities and local economies.

There are no oysters without NOAA. There are no blue crabs without NOAA. NOAA trains teachers. NOAA is the lifeblood of coastal communities.

The attack on DEI shows why liberals should stop arguing about "strategic" use of language forever. DEI stands for three uncontroversial virtues that most every American accepts, and the right still turned it into a vile slur. It doesn't matter what you say - they will poison it because YOU said it.
