To further Instagram's enshittification, it now has weekly updates with cute little "great work!" messages that make me want to smash my phone into a million shards. I do not want or need fake AI encouragement from Meta.

Pretty sure that the people with the least money to spare will get the highest prices. 🧵
(1/11) If you live in NY, you’ve probably started seeing a new warning: “THIS PRICE WAS SET BY AN ALGORITHM USING YOUR PERSONAL DATA.” This mandatory disclosure went into effect late last year, and it’s the first attempt by a US state to grapple with a new generation of surveillance pricing.

It is literally zero surprise that they knew their hand-picked climate deniers weren’t putting out real science.

Their nonsense has never been real, but part of a fraudulent propaganda campaign, designed by fossil fuel to protect its “free-to-pollute” business model.

Bondi angrily calling out her correct title to someone who addressed her with a lesser title - it's very Thomas Cromwell (as Mantel brilliantly characterized him in Wolf Hall). We know what happened to him.

Having spent most of my working life in transport policy, this is the essential truth that so many people - including politicians with responsibility for transport decisions - don’t or won’t get.

To reduce congestion, you reduce capacity and reduce speed. The empirical evidence is overwhelming.
If you widen that highway

you won’t reduce emissions

or congestion.

What you WILL do

is spend a lot of public money

to induce even more cars

emitting even more GHGs and pollution

in the same or worse congestion

with people still demanding that you widen the highway.

Period.

can't help but think there is probably a corrosive effect of having sex trafficker-elite emails unveiled for months on end as one of the biggest cultural/news stories of the last year— unearthing an inexcusable moral rot in the upper echelons of power—but without any real accountability/justice

No one who has seen the Epstein case unfold should have any doubt left about why victims don’t report. When reporting means facing more abuse, more exploitation, and more betrayal at the institutional level, while the perpetrators are the leaders of the very systems of “justice” supposed to help you

the president of lies quotes the voice

the president of loyalty recommends
blindness to the blind

Do you remember when people were saying "I think my phone is listening to me, i'm getting ads for stuff I spoke about" and people said "They arent listening to you, they're just this good at predicting your interests"?

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

my rep
Last week marked 16 years since the Supreme Court’s disastrous decision in Citizens United.

I’ve authored a proposed constitutional amendment — H.J.Res. 122 — to overturn it & over 70 of my colleagues have joined our effort.

I’ll keep fighting to get it across the finish line.

This is what you should get loud about. If you have any Republican representatives, call them now -and repeatedly. Do what you can to stop this from passing.

This is a nightmare.

No big deal in the scheme of things right now, but pet peeve: I wish people would stop using "pearl-clutching." It's intended to call up an image of an older woman - who must, therefore, automatically be mockable, prudish, stupid, and out of touch. That makes it ageist and misogynist. Please stop!
