I just posted a new unofficial town sorcerer walk over at my Patreon. I've included new photos of Muscovy duck, the snowy egret, and other lovely creatures. This post is semi-mystical and may bring a light sprinkling of magic into your day.

Deliveries to the village are always challenging and different GPS systems bring drivers to one side or another. I was expecting my new cafetiere but never received a call from the driver, just an email confirming delivery.

I couldn't find it but a neighbor did, nowhere near the house.

Every wondered how we know that supermassive black holes are so supermassive? Well one trick is to watch how light echoes around them, using "reverberations" to map how big they are. In my latest paper I close out the Australian Dark Energy Survey (OzDES) to measure the masses of hundreds of SMBH.

This is shocking, but it's not JUST Cornwall, it appears to be happening everywhere. In the 6th richest country in the world!

Things have got worse in my area too, & neither the #Tories nor #Labour have done anything about it.

Yet, the rich are getting richer. #Starmer turns a blind eye to it all.

Just pondering boring books. The most boring book I have ever attempted to read was The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. It was like attempting to climb a mountain and I never made it to the summit.

Somewhere in a Roman brickyard, around 1800 years ago, a fresh tile was drying ahead of firing - until a dog trotted straight across it.
Centuries later, the tile has made it into a museum: not because of an emperor, but thanks to one dog who accidentally walked his way into history.🧵1/2
