Indeed this is perfection.
I just thought everyone should see this

While walking the dog yesterday I was thinking about how one of the major themes of the Bible is that humans are often, as a species, a huge disappointment, and in that moment I felt closer to organized religion than I have in decades.

That feeling when you are compelled to send an email to your Dem senator screaming about the fact that the 25th Amendment isn't there for decoration, and then you remember that your Dem senator is John Fucking Fetterman.

Minneapolis groups call for ‘general strike’. "...several local unions—including Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1005, SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, CWA Local 7250, and St. Paul Federation of Educators Local 28—have lent their support to the strike." www.commondreams.org/news/minneap...

I've gotta say, harmonizing the idea that executing protesters in Minneapolis is cool with the idea that executing protesters in Iran is evil is one hell of a heavy rationalization lift, even for the MAGA crowd.

I will add that there has often been a weird, scratchy layer of sexism over the whole thing, a “take a Valium, lady” attitude that I’ve occasionally felt like sandpaper since I first said Trump was a fascist in 2015.
Being right about trump was boring, tedious, partisan, ideological. Being wrong about trump? Heterodox, contrarian, free thinking.

Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

You know he doesn’t like it when you talk like that. What did you expect? That he wouldn’t throw you down the stairs?

Go wash the blood off your face and cook dinner.
Homan: "We gotta stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It's just ridiculous. It's gonna infuriate people more which means there's gonna be more incidents like this."

This is as wise as anything else I’ve heard in years. And something I need to hear as the state breaks my heart nearly daily.
Remembering today that having your heart broken is a necessary step on the path to becoming fully human. Whichever heartbreak is your first, it’s probably critical that a state break your heart so that you can develop a political imagination. If this is your first, I’m sorry and also welcome.

Someone should write an alternate historical novel where Stephen Miller’s parents never met.

Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

This Frank Sinatra? The one who made a ten-minute short film about religious pluralism? The one who refused to play segregated venues?

Stephen Miller once again proving himself to be the most fetid piece of trash in the entire dumpster.

Once again, I must remind everyone that the best way to renew my interest in a segment of a show I last watched with my grandpa in 1979 is to censor that segment.

The real question is how this wasn’t already a word.
Not for the first time, the signature block for Self-Proclaimed U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Lindsey Halligan spelled it “Virgina.”

This bullshit is putting pressure on my first-year students to somehow produce a "writing sample" out of the ether, and I'm getting very stabby over it. No, they don't have a writing sample. The first thing I assigned to them as a diagnostic of their skills incoming is not a writing sample. Just no.
Duuuuuuuuumb

Sorry for not offering better analysis
In a first, many top law firms this year are recruiting summer associates during students' first semester. Some are dangling ‘jumbo offers’ and ‘loyalty’ bonuses for students who do two summer stints back-to-back, keeping them out of other firms' reach reut.rs/44U44cD

1) Do these people have any idea who John Adams was married to?
2) Ambitious, intellectual conservative women feel politically homeless because they are. Conservatism is inherently sexist. It will never treat women as equals.
