So the Covid inquiry finds that whilst Johnson was dodging his responsibilities writing a book and prancing around the place, if he had locked down one week earlier 23,000 people who are now dead would be alive.

The evidence clear as day

All four UK governments 'failed to appreciate' scale of COVID pandemic threat, inquiry finds
Baroness Heather Hallett finds a mandatory lockdown in 2020 was made "inevitable" by a "lack of urgency" across governments as a report from the public inquiry is published.

Employment Rights Bill

It was back in the Lords again yesterday.

And again the Tories and Lib Dems voted to weaken the bill in 5 areas:

1. Weaking rules banning zero-hours contracts

2. Removing day 1 protection from unfair dismissal

3. Disagreement over a definition of seasonal work

I don’t know. I think if the polls stay the same there could be Caerphilly type elections all over where one progressive party is rallied behind. Reform are proving to be popular but they are the most hated too. With boring old FPTP voters can choose their local MP.
as the fragmentation of the vote continues, and the Tories look more and more irrelevant every day... if we had an election today, there's a very good chance we'd have a #Reform landslide.

certainly not anti Greens, but Reform are currently polling 2x the next highest, and with FPTP...

The Covid inquiry delivers its report on phase 2 on Thursday at 4pm.

I can think of no finer marker than to prosecute Tory ministers and former PMs for their part in the absolute criminality of the pandemic.

Thousands dead. They deserve justice, be who you are meant to be Keir and go after them.

I like having a dull government. Rather than pandering to the frankly deranged press they just continue to get on with the bloody job.
So my second List this week. 10 this time. A total of 21 announcements or pieces of positive information by our Labour Government in 1 week. Some big news next week and more info on a better than expected OBR analysis. Well done Labour #FixingBritain

Labour are doing things differently in government.

One of these is more partnerships.

At a time when money is scarce these partnerships bring great initiatives to save money or make it go further.

The UK employment rate is UP under Labour

I didn't post about this earlier in the week when the data was released, but because yet again the media only gave half the story and mentioned unemployment, I've corrected several people today. So I need to point it out.

If you are calling for Sir Keir Starmer to stand down, who ever you are, then you are doing Farage's work for him.

It's the way his desire for an election in 2027 comes about.

Just shut up and stop it. Let the government get on with the job we elected them to do - and which they ARE doing.

And yet the FTSE continues to march towards 10,000 mark.

And markets continue with their support of Starmer and Reeves.

Despite our media. 🤣🤣🤣

All the rich presenters on LBC upset that they will be made to pay tax- so they are stirring against Starmer.

The media will do *whatever* it takes to destabilise a Labour government. They are there to protect the interests of the rich.
I support Sir Keir Starmer.

He is our PM and must remain as PM.

This speculation about his future needs to stop.

The media have it in for him and he is actually doing a bloody good job.

I applaud Labour for tackling the cleaning up of local Politics and mayorships. 👏👏👏
Cleaning up local politics

The government's new standards regime will tackle widespread concerns about standards in local government.

Measure include:

+ Tougher sanctions for councillors & mayors who break rules

+ Includes option for local authorities to suspend them or withhold allowances

Today I reflect on how grateful I am for those who fought dictatorships and nazis for my freedom. I also remember all the medics who worked under incredible pressure. I remember the service animals who must have felt so scared. I am grateful to those at home who kept going.

Populism never works whether left or right
Share this with every single person who thinks that Rachel Reeves can use only a wealth tax to fill fiscal gaps. The Treasury would be unlikely to see a penny until 2029. In short, we cannot fund November's budget with a wealth tax.
