Proud never-Trump RINO, retired math prof. Quadriplegic, but at least I'm not paralyzed from the neck up. Even during the darkest times, life is still good.

The President wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they've been through - and the way this administration has treated them from Day One - he has no business shitting on them now.

Meme-boosted false nostalgia for past prosperity that didn’t exist are picturing the average 1950s experience as ads and sitcoms, the 1980s as Home Alone, don’t get that the Simpsons was parodying this, etc.

Sort of like how people thinking of the Middle Ages imagine themselves a knight or noble.
People wildly overestimate the economic security experienced by past generations. There's no period in American history where significant numbers of young people were just handed high paying jobs. Nostalgia for a time that never existed is a huge problem.
Why Nikki Haley’s son went radical: His generation inherited insecurity.

I profile Nalin Haley, a fascinating young man, who I believe will likely play an important role in conservative politics in years to come.

I know this is obvious. And I know we all know this.
But if the President can raise taxes because an advert annoyed him, without even consulting Congress, then the US constitution is simply not functioning as intended.

“Do what we say or we’ll do bad things we’re already doing” is the emptiest of threats, deserving nothing but a scoff.

No one should treat Trump officials threatening to illegally remove federal employees as “or else” since they’ve been removing federal employees in violation of the law for months.

One wonders how long it took for it to occur to Team Trump that a stopped escalator is still a perfectly functional stairway. Had no one pointed that out to them, they might have starved standing there for weeks.

What’s more astonishing: 1) that the president clearly believes, and repeatedly suggests, that asylum seekers are people from mental asylums, or 2) that no journalist has ever challenged him on this and no mainstream media outlets have done any deep dives on this story?

The 2028 election posting is ridiculous. Let Democrats have a primary, with people advocating for or against whatever they care about.

Binary choice and popular front logic don’t really apply until the general election. No one has to preemptively compromise, and berating them to is absurd.

The thing about a lot of these never Trump Republicans is that, unlike a lot of institutionalist Dems who think the fever will break and we can all return to comity or whatever, these guys saw the rot up close and know the only appropriate response is to tear them out of government root and branch.

Correction: Trump is hostile to independence. He wants to bend everyone to his will. He is willing to threaten anyone with criminal prosecution to get his way. We are in dangerous territory.
