my brilliant friend Anna is working on a hilarious and crazy inspired-by-a-true-story short film about the absurdity of U.S. electoral politics. i chipped in to help get it made and would love if you did too! supporting bold independent artists is a high like none other ✨
If you're still riding the Zohran high and you want more stories of underdog candidates sticking it to the establishment....you’re in luck, my short film Toss Up is just that :) *and* it’s inspired by the wild true story of the first campaign I managed! BUT…
Toss Up - a short film by Anna Katherine Scanlon - Indiegogo

We now know he was up there planning the demolition
Oh no. I'm so sorry. I can't understand why they'd be fixated on you like that.

Van Campen defeated six-term incumbent Mayor Carlo DiMaria, the guy who allowed ICE to kidnap a 13-year-old from his city last month. Elections have consequences.
Congratulations to Rob Van Campen, Mayor-Elect of Everett!
This shit isn't funny any more and hasn't been for a decade.
Trump: "For generations Miami has been a haven for those fleeing communist tyranny in South Africa. I mean, if you take a look at what's going on in parts of South Africa. Look at South Africa, what's going on. Look at South America, what's going on. You know, we have a G20 meeting in South Africa."
Damn. What a bunch of assholes. Hope they enjoy irrelevancy.

WOTD “what ails you” edition. Feel Bad vs. Feel Badly. Too frequently, I see well-meaning people wrongly use “badly” in place of “bad,” thinking it’s the correct thing to do. You wouldn’t say a pie smells “deliciously.” Nor would you say “I feel sadly” if you’re distraught. 1/2

Theresa Gillespie Isom, a North Mississippi Democrat, has won a special election for Mississippi Senate District 2, flipping a Republican-held seat.

Her victory means Democrats could be on the verge of breaking the Republican Party’s supermajority in the upper legislative chamber.

Can someone please make sure that Jeffries and Schumer get the message about the Dem wins tonight? That'd be swell.

My dad knew Cheney since he was fords chief of staff and would always say “i liked him then. Idk what the hell happened”
In the run up to the second Iraq war my dad wrote an article comparing it to the gulf of Tonkin and Cheney himself made sure my father was fired from his gov job

Anyway he’s dead
Grim Reaper gettin' closer, but dang, dude.

My kid has no choice but to try to do some essay-intensive "pathway" or take weird "career-oriented" classes which will absolutely not help anyone in a career. Someone made/makes a lot of money for this useless curriculum. I just want her to go to a nice college!
I've really had it with dealing with the mess that is Metro Public Schools. I wish I could strangle whomever thought the "academies" thing was a good idea.

This writer was just fired from Teen Vogue
dissatisfied by the New York Times coverage of Zohran Mamdani?

great news! I talked to the guy Thursday about his campaign’s success at bringing community together beyond this election, and contextualized how it’s potentially shifted youth engagement with politics by simply listening @teenvogue.com
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

I haven't watched morning local news in a while, but seems odd that I just saw on Facebook that both Ben Hill and Rebecca Schleicher from the morning broadcasts are both leaving Channel 5.
Srsly prefer driving to Memphis over East Nashville and beyond.
I wish more people would speak up like this. My mother didn't try to get assistance because she didn't have the time to do it. She could not take time off work. If I got sick, my sitter had a sick room or I just went to work with her.
