Misinformation *is* central to democratic problems today, but the solution is *not* to correct such epistemic failures directly. Instead, we must address them at their roots, in social identity.

Or so I argue in a new post for @apaphilosophy.bsky.social.

The Problem is Epistemic. The Solution is Not. | Blog of the APA
Doubts about the wisdom of the masses are as old as philosophy itself. Yet interest in democracy’s “epistemic” merits has surged in the last decade—and it is no mystery why. Democracy is collapsing ar...

You sound like Broncos Country rn 😂
The 2025 Packers are cooked. They are not a playoff team. They have now lost 3 games after scoring 7, 10 and 13 points. They have a Ferrari defense and a Yugo offense that is regressing by the week. The head coach is losing the team and Jordan Love should be benched. 👎

HOW VOTERS PICK A CANDIDATE:

-they observe the social environment (largely through media)
-they decide what role they want to play in that environment (respected? savvy? oppositional?)
-they pick the candidate they think fulfills that role
-they reverse-engineer an explanation for their pick
Feeling like that chimpanzee that hanged himself rn

I hear about 10x as many complaints about missed calls and egregiously bad calls than I hear about 'pace of play.'

Expand replay assist. The refs are human and emotional and they make mistakes.

Good teams win ugly games.
There's gonna be people saying this doesn't mean anything, but this was everything we kept asking for. Bo doing what he needed to do in crunch time, the defense and special teams stepping up. Yes, it was ugly at times - that's the Super Bowl champs on the other side. But it was a statement win!

I think Democrats win by being the best version of the Democratic Party: a forceful, assertive, dynamic liberal coalition that stands up for the rights of the vulnerable, unrelentingly opposes the endless corruption and bigotry of MAGA and Trump, and wants a fair prosperous America

I am not seeing "Constitutional amendment reversing Citizens United" on any of these New Reconstruction wishlists folks are circulating, and.

Absent starting over from scratch, I don't see us establishing any semblance of democracy here without that plus Supreme Court expansion.

Are y'all journalists or stenographers? These fascists are seizing public and private interests exactly like the nazis did and y'all don't have the stones to call them out?

Do you think they'll spare you because you weren't mean to them?

Do you know anything about fascism at all?

In this thread, I lay out more than a dozen facts about Trump and his child-molester friends Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
I challenge you to read the whole thread and then decide what the odds are that Trump did not abuse girls or tolerate his pals Epstein and Maxwell doing so.

Calling out trump for being a pedophile and for being besties with the most infamous sex trafficker in US history is not enough. We must call for his immediate impeachment & removal or his resignation.

Begging someone to ask him what 'IQ' stands for
Trump: "AOC -- look. I think she's very nice. But she's very low IQ, and we really don't need low IQ. Between her and Crockett, we're gonna give 'em both an IQ test to see who comes out best. I took a real test at Walter Reed medical center and I aced it. Now it's time for them to take a test."

Voter fraud is extremely rare, very easy to catch, and almost exclusively performed by right-wingers. Every single GOP attempt to 'secure elections' or 'eliminate fraud' is just a bad-faith, flimsy pretext to disenfranchise as many likely Dem voters as possible
