Yes, political rhetorical language needs careful scrutiny worldwide. The Right in particular has a long history of language that negates or distorts the apparent thrust of claims being made.
That word "directly" is doing a lot of heavy lifting...

The draft dodging idiot posted a pic of this West Point plaque. It contains these words:

“Our American Code of Military Obedience requires that, should orders and the law ever conflict, our officers must obey the law.”

That is precisely what Senator Mark Kelly told officers to do. #NoSedition

It's not time for a peace deal, it's time for Russia to pack up & withdraw from Ukraine.

RUSSIA CAN NOT WIN!

Russian citizens need to unite & overthrow this corrupt regime.

The only real question is, Will Trump do the right thing, or prove again he's a Russian asset?

And if our current leaders won’t do it, they need to step aside for people who will.

- promoted discredited treatments like ivermectin

- delayed deadly whooping cough outbreak warnings

- backed anti-fluoride policies

- fought to repeal ACA

The subtext in JD Vance asking for "patience" on the economy: When leaders stop talking about current conditions and jump straight to rosy forecasts, they’re signaling the present isn’t defensible. That’s your cue to scrutinize the numbers, not just the narrative.

Oh, but it does matter Nigel. It matters a great deal.

"They're only making these claims now, because I'm leading in the opinion polls".

The claims were reported 13 years ago, Nigel... 🤮

This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.
