To be clear:

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

We're told at least one person was arrested—and later released with a citation for disorderly—by Broadview police for simply being on the Maywood side of 25th at Harvard St outside the ICE facility this morning.

They were documenting agents coming and going as electeds have told people to do.

Imagine going back in time to tell 2015-you that in 2025 armed masked secret police are driving around Chicago, asking to see papers, kidnapping dozens of people a day, and arresting citizens who record them, while launching tear gas into neighborhood streets.

ICE in Chicago detained two people (that we know of) for filming them today, a cyclist and a neighborhood rapid responder. This in addition to tear gassing another neighborhood and brandishing weapons at rapid response—both things that have also already been going on for weeks.

Any time families come to deliver meds to the detention center now, someone shoves a camera + mic in their face. A few days ago we watched reporters do this to someone while crying. People don't realize they don't have to consent to it, so they go along with it.

These journos are not seeing Heaven

Yesterday, Don Lemon interrupted patient care for a visibly sensitive situation by shoving a mic in a patient’s face then getting annoyed at me when I swatted it out of the way & told him it was inappropriate. Yes, protests should be documented but no, they are not “content” & there is a difference.

masked federal agents have been on a tear through chicago neighborhoods today—enabled in no small part by the state + local cops now running security for ice in broadview.

at least 2 people abducted in cicero, 2 in humboldt park/hermosa, 3 in garfield ridge. sightings in schaumburg + hanover park.

Based on all the social media reports, today may have been the busiest Friday for ICE activity that we’ve seen since this surge started.

With hundreds of police now protecting ICE’s facility for them, presumably ICE is able to deploy more agents to snatch people.

Just chipped in. Plz give to the Sameer Project if you can; they have the people and infrastructure to efficiently distribute food and water as the trucks start rolling back in.

The Sameer Project’s donations are down 45% today but their work is unfortunately far from over. Give to the South campaign, which supplies 200,000 liters of water a day: chuffed.org/project/1132...

Today a street vendor I’ve seen every day for two years was abducted from our neighborhood by masked thugs too cowardly to identify themselves. Her crime? Selling Tamales. What are you doing to stand up to the Gestapo?

I'm at the scene where ICE abducted multiple people from Lincoln and Foster this morning.

A WGN producer was among the people taken, allegedly because she was among a group of bystanders who tried to intervene. ICE agents hit this car while making their getaway.

at this point you have to acknowledge that there is no way that these guys don't try to mess with the 2026 midterms. there is absolutely no respect for the legitimacy of the opposition

Stephen Miller: "Eventually elections don’t carry the day because violence beats votes… When we see a muscular response from the federal government, it’s because we’re not going to let violence beat votes."

Is he implying federal intervention determines political legitimacy, not ballots or courts?
