A thread of a collection of therapist directories that have niches & specialties
as alternatives to the larger, problematic ones

(In no particular order-feel free to add to this if you know of one I've missed!)

Congratulations on doing something so difficult with quitting smoking! I'm sure that's been a mix ...

I'm doing okay, just haven't been in the social media mood much. Thanks for the warm welcome! I can't say how consistent I'll be---but I'm here now!

On #WorldMentalHealthDay, I have officially updated my practice policies to notify clients that AI is not used in any aspect of their treatment. Sessions are not recorded

Clients deserve full confidentiality and privacy, as well as thoughtfulness in their therapist's documentation

Making fun of ANYONE’S mental health; giving them diagnoses when they’re not your client and/or you’re not a mental health professional; and all other related things:

Dissent is patriotic.

We have a right to disagree and dissent with those in power and demand a better world.

Therapist listserv has a person advertising, “Master IFS in one day” and no, this is not a thing. NO

The insecurity of it all 🙄

Are you keeping up with the allotted cheese intake to try them all?

I really wish bad nurses and doctors didn't tarnish the healthcare profession when there are so many good providers out there who actually want to help. It sucks and we have to call out the bullshit when we see it or it will never change.

Timely article about how the brief mainstream moment for body positivity is being crushed by the rise - once again - of aspirational thinness, and the link between promoting feminine skinniness and right wing conservative values and movements. Never ends.

The Body-Positivity Movement Is Over
Liv Schmidt and the rise of SkinnyTok

By Annie Joy Williams Schmidt is the queen of SkinnyTok—a corner of the internet where thin, mostly white women try to make America skinny again. Her “what I eat in a day to stay skinny” videos thrust her into virality about a year ago. There she is with her mint tea—which she always drinks before eating anything, to check if she’s really hungry or just bored—or a mile-high ice-cream sundae that she’ll take three bites of before tossing. She’s very clear: She stays skinny by not eating much. Many find this refreshingly honest. Others think she’s promoting eating disorders. Ozempic has accelerated that backlash against body positivity. Many of the plus-size leaders of the body-positivity movement shut up and shrunk down. Their followers noticed that they were using a weight-loss drug. Apparently you didn’t have to love yourself as you were—and you didn’t have to suffer to change, either. You just had to have a prescription and enough money to pay for it. I started listening more closely to the SkinnyTok videos. They weren’t just about self-deprivation. They were about being classy. They were about being a lady—the right kind of woman, one that men drool over. They were, most importantly, about being small.
