WE WON! After 42 days of striking we have a tentative agreement in hand that protects our existing 4 day work week, establishes a minimum salary, and adds protections against AI replacing jobs at our workplace!

I think the main obstacle putting me off of opening bluesky (the way I used to open extinct classic twitter) is the constant feeling of showing up with bleary eyes and bedhead to some sort of Work Thing

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

watching black mirror for the first time and it's a pretty horrifying experience. not bc of the episodes themselves but bc I am exposed to commenters online with no media literacy coming up with takeaways like "abuse/torture is justified if the other party is guilty of something"

Update: we just received a statement from Macmillan/Tor taking full responsibility for failing to register copyright, promising to make us whole and pay us any settlement money we lost out on due to that error, and promising to find & correct the lapses that caused this.

this part right here is gonna create massive resentment in the industry. the copyright registration system and the fact that you apparently have to pay a bonus fee for protection from big companies pirating your work (and that tons of publishers never paid the bonus fee...)
Instead of working to include as many writers as possible in the settlement, the plaintiffs instead agreed on arbitrary and minimal definitions of which books would be included. It’s almost like they wanted a quick win – any win – even if they screwed over most authors. 4/

hello sunday nighttime gang... it's time to ask again for audiobook recs...! looking for a shorter read before I tackle the next gentleman bastards book. something like Piranesi would be perfect. I don't really vibe with anything labelled 'cozy' (no hate i just want books to fuck me up a lil)

locke lamora and farseer trilogy are both about young boys receiving a broad yet hyperspecific education in order to turn them into subtle masters of their art existing on the boundaries of the law except locke has the soul of a theater kid and fitz has the subtlety of an anvil
