TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:

Here's question: If the Trump admin knows which boats are carrying drugs, why don't we wait until they enter American waters and arrest them? They know the specific boat. They can tell if anyone leaves or gets on the boat and where it is headed (so they say).

To establish trust in online articles, I think it's time for Square or PayPal to step up to allow for micro-transactions (remember those?) on verified websites, so we know we're not reading AI slop. Let sites set prices for 5¢ an article & Square pays out and takes its fee once a month.
