Shamelessly trying to drum up interest in my soon-to-be-forthcoming book by offering, in this post, a gift link to a NYT article about a new men's underwear line. phoebemaltzbovy.substack.com/p/its-embarr...

It's in moments like this I'm thinking what my life would have been had I picked Monash instead of La Trobe: First year in Caulfield, 2nd year in Clayton. The only time I took the train to Glenhuntly was to print my thesis at Monash Clayton.

"My colleague Kat Rosenfield feels otherwise. Don’t miss her take on the new album, which she sees as evidence of what happens when the ultimate sad girl’s well of tears finally dries up. (Spoiler alert: The songs suffer.)"

With the Z word thrown around lately, I classify four groups of anti-Zionists: Muslims and Arabs, left-wing, right-wing, and liberals.

Each of them has their own utopia.

TIL the Christian hymn Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart is just one year older than soundalike Village People's Go West.

My life in Australia, where that tune meant Grateful Heart for Chinese Indonesians and Go West for Gen X Aussies.

Meghan Daum discussed what she called this BDS yesterday. I shared the takeaway from FemChaos, that she's Jewish (too many Mossad jokes in OP's replies) and that she represents Seinfeld Americana that some hate.

I also propose a 3rd point: She's seen as a traitor & saboteur to the Resistance.

I'm thrilled to have an essay in Fairer Disputations, a sex-realist feminist journal.
In it, I explore how society went from not taking adolescent girls seriously at all to taking their political "wisdom" way, way too seriously, and why both extremes stem from the same sexism.

Indonesian TV took Filmation's Ghostbusters, which began as a 1975 CBS show (Aykroyd began his idea in 1981 from personal interest in paranormal). Knew the Real GB from Malaysian TV.

Slimer got more popular so in 1988 it was retitled Slimer! & the Real GB. I loved the Slimer! part better.
Cover of Filmation's Ghostbusters, featuring a gorilla and a flying car. Promo picture of Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters, focusing on Slimer and showing the personalities of the Ghostbusters.

In early 2023 it was the center left party that rejected Israeli entry, to the disappointment of the liberal public.

2 years on, the liberal public is the biggest haters of Israel, and the government here does the appeasement.

You can see how the writer is of the public.

Graphic artist ex mutual is now more antisemitic than doctor ex mutual (who supposedly refuses to talk to white people).

And somehow I don't think it's a rare case. And that attitude is shaped by irl social communication as much as online's.

Yeah, there's a theory that we're returning to oral society, and for some that's a good thing (with fake images being a part of this, like ancient folklore and myth)
