One thing that's clear about Zohran Mamdani's time as mayor, that many Millennial POC will especially understand, is how he'll be held to an entirely different standard. His successes will be written off or dismissed and his mistakes will be blown up by critics and the press. It's going to get ugly.

One of the better representatives NJ has had.
Democratic Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, who is the first Black woman to represent New Jersey in Congress, announces she won't seek reelection. Watson Coleman, who is 80, leaves behind a seat that, per calculations by The Downballot, favored Kamala Harris 61-37. www.the-downballot.com/p/the-downba...

Tim Kaine you need to go away.
Kaine on why he thinks just getting a vote on healthcare is a win: "We're the minority party, but everybody will get to see who is standing for them when it comes to lowering their healthcare costs"

This is the message of the type of undecided voter who gets selected to ask questions at town hall presidential debates, the message of people who are totally disengaged from political reality. The message of people who think the movie Dave is realistic.

Arby’s is always on some shit. But this is interesting.
Arby’s Homestyle Pot Roast Sandwich (2003-2003): Slow-cooked pot roast in gravy, with thick-cut cheddar cheese and a "kickin' ranch sauce", served on a crusty baguette roll.

They were never gonna issue certiorari to Kim Davis’s case. The hoopla over it was driven by engagement farmers like Brian Tyler Cohen vaguely rage baiting with tweets saying shit like “officially considering the case.” This was Davis’s 100 yard Hail Mary.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court DENIES former county clerk Kim Davis's request for the justices to take up her longshot bid to overturn 2015's Obergefell v. Hodges marriage equality decision. No justice even writes about the request.

Newsom is a bad person and I’ll leave that bubble empty before I vote for him, but if he spends all day on tv tomorrow calling Schumer a coward and it normalizes the call to primary him among lowish information democrats, godspeed.

Even Ro Khanna is scoring off this. You know how bad that is?
Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?

Yeah, I'm sorry, but you do not keep the government shut for more than a month and then NOT get a deal on the main item you have been messaging on without completely shifting the blame dynamic.
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:

—CR through Jan 30
—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
—Led by King/Shaheen/Hassan

10 Senate Dems, most of whom won’t even run for re-election, decided tonight to destroy the unity and momentum we had from Tuesdays wins.

We can and very likely still will win in November but this was incredibly selfish
