I've had a few folks already hit me up about commissions in light of everything going on.

Short answer, we'll see what happens, right now I don't really have the time to think about it.

BREAKING: B.C. Municipalities Minister Christine Boyle has put forward an amendment to the Vancouver Charter that will only allow the city to eliminate the Vancouver Park Board through a referendum.

Buckle your seatbelts, folks.

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

Most of them are- the reason thev’ve slapped on pedals is because the standard doesn’t exist in most cases for electro mopeds
markburge.ca
Sure, and what I’m saying is in most jurisdictions there isn’t a legal place for e-bikes without pedals, which is regulation hole mainly because this type of product didn’t exist till now in a format that was accessible and affordable to normal people.
markburge.ca
Then make them legal in the same class as mopeds and require the same requirements. Which is a regulation issue.

Most of the e-bikes we’re talking about could have their pedals removed without functionally changing the product and would likely be welcomed by industry.

It’s the double standard and one is by several magnitudes far more dangerous than the other.

Remember, 5.3 people are killed every day by motor vehicles in Canada. There aren’t widespread movements to put speed limiters on motor vehicles.

Just some context that any #ebike news story should have when advocates against ebikes are interviewed.

Happy “Champlain heights trails possibly heading towards being a park” day. 50 or so years after they should have been.

If the fees are too high people just aren’t going to register them, and considering we already don’t enforce many road laws, police aren’t going to be chomping at the bit to crackdown on unregistered bicycles
markburge.ca
Again, anytime licensing for bikes or registration has come up, it has always cost more to administer the program than it has brought in.
markburge.ca
But that’s regulatory issue than can be dealt with in time.
markburge.ca
Every time bicycles registration or licensing has been attempted for bikes it’s cost government more than it’s brought in.

Sure, but you understand that the risks are not even remotely the same right and comparing the two is dishonest, right?

The best part about my neighbourhood is the local bike gang. The average age is about 10 and it’s the most wholesome thing- there’s about 15 I’m guessing and they just ride around like they own the place.

People I wouldn’t want to play poker with: Mark Carney.

His pokeface in the oval today was astonishing.

It is astounding how much negative ebike press has come out in the past few months, it almost as if they represent a real threat to the car industry.

Funny how 50,000 people are killed on our roadways in cars every year and you spend 5 minutes on a bike en route to the safest means of travel available by car (train) and they gotta harangue you about a helmet without any knowledge of how you ride or what the route is like

I think my skin colour might have something to do with it too.

Also my terrible pronunciation of Japanese. I got really good at saying sorry though.

On one hand, I’m glad it’s not just us. On the other hand they’re making bank knowing that folks can’t really fight it.

This is the main issue I have with so much of the coverage around e-bikes. It's not that there aren't legitimate issues. But there is a panic around e-bikes and crickets regarding the daily toll of cars. And that's because the harm of cars is just accepted. It's baked into our society.

The deference we give to drivers is astonishing: speeding, blowing through red lights, crashing without a whisper; yet we jump on non-drivers the moment they step out of line.
