Let's talk about writing, books, MN sports, politics, art, science, philosophy, and, most importantly, puns. Living in New England, still feel Minnesotan. Sometimes have fever dreams about Jabberjaw.

MLS announces offseason GAM count for all 30 clubs

GAM is a valuable tool for MLS roster building. Can acquire players/assets, but most used to buy down non-DP salary cap hits to fit under roster rules

Cig-natty. I knew the game could not end without a Beck pick.

Surprised to see IU manage the clock so poorly there. First, let Miami run the clock down before the FG. Then, with decent field position, didn’t try to get aggressive until 10 seconds left. Oh well, now more ads!!

So far while watching Indiana-Miami: 12.5 minutes of football, 273 minutes of ads.

And that’s why. Bizarrely conservative call. I will say I thought the Bears would go for 2.
Surprised Rams didn’t throw. Incomplete pass doesn’t matter. Even if the play didn’t take 7 seconds, the punt would use up the 2 min warning. Running the ball didn’t force a timeout or run any extra time off. If I had Stafford and Nacua, I’m trying to end the game there.

Waiting for the short yardage play in which you give the smallest guy the ball and just toss him like a grenade over the line.

Your read of the day. So much out there about how ICE is marauding its way through Minneapolis but very little about grass roots resistance. Here I speak to a teacher on the front lines and he breaks down the *numbers* of people involved in resisting ICE. Chills.

A Minneapolis Teacher Wants the Whole Country in the Streets Confronting ICE
Dan Troccoli, a public middle-school teacher, says everyone should start “emulating” Minneapolis’s resistance to the Trump regime.

U.S. citizen detained by ICE:

“…they finally told me that they could offer undocumented family members of mine legal protection if I have any…or money, in exchange for giving them the names of protest organizers, or undocumented persons. I was shocked, and told them no.”
just a reminder that we aren’t even seeing the worst of what is happening in Minneapolis from someone detailed at the Whipple Federal Building yesterday

It's absolutely insane that there are thousands of parents in Minnesota standing in front of their kids schools who have to worry about getting killed by their own government because they want to protect their kids' classmates, teachers, and fellow parents.

Best part of the seemingly endless Rodgers epilogue by Joe Buck was that the more Buck spoke, the worse the plays became. From a standard incomplete pass, to under-throwing a 4 foot screen, to an atrocious pick, to a non-tackle on the return. Poetry, really.

I know someone who wants Rodgers back—Kenneth Gainwell. He’ll have 175 catches next year. Granted, it’ll only be for 450 yards, but still.
January 13, 2026 at 4:07 AM
Rodgers reaching the stage where’s he’s just campaigning for a call after every failed play—roughing, pi, deep state wokeness.

If the Loons’ inactivity this offseason is because they are pouring money into the community to help cities under siege, no issue. (Narrator: It is not.) Any other reason? Unacceptable. Still time, I know. Right now, this is a squad hoping to sneak into the 8/9 match. A lot of work to do. #MNUFC

This is a corrupt, politically motivated attack on the Federal Reserve.

The strict independence of the Fed has been paramount to the stability of the global economy for over a century, which will collapse if Trump moves to seize control of it.

Probably won’t matter but Pats should’ve gone for 2 to up 17-3. If you don’t get it, 15-3 still requires 2 tds for LA.

No KC. No Philly. So much better for the playoffs. Seattle is thrilled to get this banged up SF instead of the Rams.
January 12, 2026 at 12:48 AM
Niners should’ve gone for 2 there. Try to make it 6 pt lead since Eagles have already missed 1 extra pt.

They hate Minnesota because we are a people who believe that "we all do better when we all do better."

Minnesota is one of the wealthiest, safest, and cleanest states in the country *because* of our openness and generosity.

Our quality of life is a direct challenge to their zero-sum worldview.

Assumed this would be the announcement & think Cam Knowles is deserving of a manager position. Wouldn't be surprised if he does an excellent job. I still am an advocate of bringing in a variety of candidates because there are many capable, intelligent voices out there waiting for a chance. #MNUFC
🇳🇿 Sources: Cam Knowles is the front runner to be named next Minnesota United head coach.

Knowles was an assistant on Eric Ramsay's staff, previously interim manager and second team head coach. Well respected in organization and locker room.
