My gf (who works in healthcare and has dealt with United healthcare’s bs first hand) pointed out that he was taken to a hospital that was out of network for United thanks to some bad faith contract negotiating by the company earlier this year

Republicans are comfortable taking extreme stances to energize the hard right and let the normies figure out how to accept or ignore those fringe stances because they prefer R policy generally, while dems seem to live in fear of alienating any single voter by taking a progressive stance on anything
Democrats will often look at something that doesn’t poll well and think “oh no, better move away from that!” but they’re getting their role backwards. parties influence public opinion. if you’re purely reactive, you’re just letting the GOP frame every debate.
the lesson of the election isn’t “we should give up on trans rights,” it’s that the GOP took an issue that negatively impacted almost no one and made it a headliner. why would it help to surrender on an issue if they can create a grievance from thin air?

I was in Spoonbill a couple months ago, a pair came in, one of them pointed at Normal People and went “oh I love this one”. The other responded “that’s like so cool that you can just like go into a bookstore and know a book already. That’s so cool”. Then they talked about doing cocaine.
A safe place to hide from morons is a library or book store.

my take is less “dems need to run a campaign i like” and more “dems need to ditch the big tent and become more ideological/values oriented.” i certainly have ideas about what those values should be but acknowledge there are other values dems could organize around that might be more effective
