I've been wondering why Dominion Voting Systems suddenly reached settlements with Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and One America News.

Turns out, it's been purchased by a Republican-owned election tech firm that insisted on it, per Axios.

so Republican-governed states will immediately move to allow broadcasters and streaming services to play ads 10 dB louder than non-sports programming, or 6 dB louder for sports

what about introducing these guys to North America? I don't see that being controversial in any way, people LOVE tigers

"I work," she coldly tells the judge, "for the *President*, and so do you. Maybe try to remember that."

"Is that so?" replies the judge. "Let's see if he'll bail you out of jail then."

Trump's dictatorship is time for making moral choices

I talked to the top climate scientist, Penn's Michael Mann, about his great new book - and why he sacrificed a key university post in order to keep speaking the truth against anti-science lies

and what does Roger Pielke Jr. know about "rigorous science" apart possibly from experience trying to undermine it?

everyone knows the main problem is that there are too many air traffic controllers and too much focus on safety

collisions in the air and on the ground will quickly weed out the less-skilled pilots and airlines through healthy free-market competition, no heavy-handed government intervention needed

afaik, the Democrats are now totally outnumbered, with the support of only
Black Evangelicals
mainstream Protestants (any race)
mainstream Anglo and Latino Catholics
Reform/nonobservant Jews
Muslims
agnostics
atheists

did you expect live footage of the last minutes of Pompeii too??

hence the "increasingly broken" part

but mathematically, if an R1 professor supervises X number of PhDs over their career (with X >> 1) there's no way they can all end up as clones, so other career outcomes have to be both viable and valued
markshore.bsky.social
a gradational progression from student to employee (high school/undergraduate -> master's/PhD -> postdoc -> junior faculty) that's not widely understood and that's increasingly broken anyway

not to mention "who was president in 2020?" a question so difficult that it baffles tens of millions of voters and apparently* even some Republican senators

*alternatively they could be lying

not my generally preferred way to operate (since it hinges on bad faith) and I don't know if this is what the Democrats did, but publicly offering a seemingly reasonable deal that you're sure your adversary will refuse can be an effective tactic
