Sorry, but I'm going to get real annoying about this.

If you're an Irish artist/creative, this survey only takes a few minutes to do.

As mentioned by Ian Fay, this is getting brigaded by far right types over on X, and we need to drown them out.
Would you like to contribute to the public consultation about the Basic Income for the Arts? 💡

Oisin McGann here provides a very clear and beautifully articulated analysis of the life and challenges of a professional creative artist, and makes it abundantly clear why a Universal Basic Income (for everyone, not just artists) is the intelligent solution. Well worth the read.
Some are talking about this extension as a half-hearted measure, but I think the main point of it is to ensure the people currently on the pilot scheme don’t get dumped off it before a full version can get up and running.

Here’s why I think BIA is badly needed:

This morning, the Israeli occupation army forcibly removed these Palestinian families from their homes in Khallet Al-Dabe' village, in the Masafer Yatta region, south of the occupied West Bank, before the army proceeded to demolish several homes in the village.

Yes.
"What if you never had to think? What if we removed agency and accountability from your work? What if communication didn't need human input?" That seems to be the general pitch from the AI companies as they shove their loss-making, environmentally damaging gamble down our throats

Amazing. After nearly losing her house, and being locked away in a legal battle for years because of one innocuous line in her last TED Talk, @carolecadwalla.bsky.social returns to the Lion’s Den, and calls out the Broligarchs

I'm not sure which video to post--the fifteen paramedics in their last moments as one of them prays amid gunfire, the journalist being burned alive, the man holding a headless toddler, the people blown into the air, or the young man quietly rocking the shrouded body of a child.

It's a genocide.

This is outrageous! Wtf does asylum mean if a woman can be returned to a country where she has no right even to speak or show her face in public?

This report should break something in all of us.

15,613 children.

The first 27 pages of the report list children whose ages are 0.

26% were under the age of 5

If Hamas had killed 7 Israelis inside of Israel this week, it would be one of the biggest stories in the world, & all over the US media.

But Israel killed 7 HUNDRED Palestinians this week, including almost 200 children, & yet there's little outrage from our politicians or media.

We are tired of Israel. Not Gaza
The world is tired of Gaza—I don’t blame you. But imagine being one of 2 million people, trapped, starved, dehumanized. Israel turned us into beggars for food and water, made you see us as less than human. But we are not. We are educated, we are civilized—we are people. Do we not deserve to live?

Writer friends - a very good thread from Nate Federman listing the questions that can really acid-test your script, particularly aimed at comedy. Read and learn…
When I worked on The Office, Greg Daniels had a list of questions he asked of every story. Some were show-specific (eg “Are we saying something truthful if exaggerated about office life?”), but many are applicable to any script. Here’s a little thread on them…

When I worked in UK academia I recall hearing of a Japanese man who was baffled at how Britain had decided to run its universities like firms. “Why? Your universities are excellent and your firms are terrible.”
To repeat: "A country so stupid it actively trashes one of things it's good at and famous for."
Today's university slashing and burning is Edinburgh, where about 10% of the budget will be cut. There'll be another case every single day until UK govts actually do something. A country so stupid it actively trashes one of things it's good at and famous for.
