Everyone should listen to this compelling but somewhat scary episode of the Cleaning Up podcast, featuring coral reef ecologist Dr Katharina Fabricius.

The multiple climate & related threats to coral reefs across the world are undeniable, and extremely concerning

'When authoritarians seize power, it is crucial to recognize courageous defenders of freedom who rise and resist,' the Norwegian Nobel Committee said as it announced Maria Corina Machado as the winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize

Q: Is it legal in the UK for an online service to switch you from a free account to a paid subscription, without having a your explicit permission?

MusicGateway are saying it's covered in their T&Cs, but it seems like extremely sharp practice to me, at best.

Congratualtions to María Corina Machado for winning this years Nobel Peace Prize for her work promoting democratic rights in Venezuela.

Has the world, collectively, ever been happier over who won the prize?

Starmer deserves a medal for delivering a charm offensive to that pathetic narcissist, but if it's helped bring about even temporary peace in Gaza, it's been well worth all the stifled vomit.

Nigel Farage accuses teachers of "poisoning our kids" on race issues.

Here's a reminder of what teachers and fellow pupils at Farage's own school remember of his own views on that subject.

The *only* reason Trump is doing this is because of his massive ego & trying to get a Nobel prize like Obama. It really eats into him. Otherwise he doesn't give a f*ck about the deaths & destruction.
His plan for Gaza purely revolved around *him* having a lucrative construction project

The man who helped Israel with a Genocide has discussed a cease fire for a moment to get a Nobel Peace prize then will start building hotels on the Gaza Strip. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets it in this fucked up world we live in.

Turns out the deductions about racial integration in the UK, you apparently made from spending 90 minutes in Handsworth, are objectively, measurably and definitively wrong.

Maybe an unconscious bias on your part, do you think?

Maybe not though.

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

The idea that 1.5°C is safe is a dangerous illusion. We’ve already crossed multiple tipping points — the Great Barrier Reef, West Antarctica, Greenland. These shifts aren’t future risks. They’re happening now. — David Spratt
