The Washington Post now has no Black Opinion columnists - none - at a time when white nationalism is ascendant in our nation. I am grateful to Karen for the truth and fearlessness her work has always shown. Keep shining that light, my friend.

This is not true. Blackstone owns 0.06% of the single family homes in America. There is no market where they own more than 1% of the homes.

Nobody has a monopoly on housing. 2/3 of American households own their homes and rental housing is a VERY diversified and competitive industry.

Our staff is on the ground supporting families. Many workers-including US citizens, were held by federal authorities at the farm for 8 hours or more. US citizen workers report only being released after they were forced to delete photos and videos of the raid from their phones. 4/

the destruction of chattel slavery is one of the great accomplishments in our nation's history and the reason conservatives hate celebrating it is because doing so legitimizes the black counter-narrative of the united states

I remember being really fascinated by the Zelda Timeline and I got the book and everything and when I sat down to really digest it I felt such enormous clarity that I actually didn't give a shit at all and chasing this kind of thing is not only goofy but antithetical to creation.
Gamer’s we’re moving away from this mentality in 2025.

We don’t need official timelines. Sometimes things can just happen. Imagine your grandpa consulting a diagram to figure out when the Three Stooges worked as chimney sweeps versus working at the lumberyard.

If you come to college with 1) a constantly inflating debt-bomb hovering over your head, 2) the understanding that the diploma you earn won't secure you a stable income and 3) an idea that college is a tedious roadblock to be hurdled before your real life begins...

Yeah, no shit they cheat.

re: this thread, i've always thought that the original error of the prequels as a narrative is that they are ostensibly anakin's story when they ought to be obi wan's, especially since obi wan is, as a character, perfectly positioned to star in the story nathan describes
The retcon that the Clone troopers carried Order 66 because they had brain-control chips really strikes me as emblematic of why the Prequels fail:

This should be the story of the Jedi and Republic embracing an industrialized mass-murder machine out of expediency, and where that inevitably leads.

My elder millennial take is that Uber, Netflix, Airbnb, Doordash, etc. started out being very cheap alternatives to established industries then once they destroyed those industries they became a worser expensive version of the thing they disrupted.
i miss when ubers were $10 for a 40 min ride
