Genuinely such an interesting long thread on why these suits look crap and yet how a particular type of crap suit has become a cultural signifier for right-wing men.

Exactly this, and all polling has made this clear for a long time. While there’s a 10-20% group who back any and every draconian idea, few of that group are likely to vote Labour, and most other voters anxious about immigration are responsive to specifics and context (eg deporting to Taliban is bad)
It shows such a basic lack of political understanding that Labour didn't go straight on the attack over this.
Just because most people are worried about immigration being too high it doesn't mean they're psychopaths.
