The Best TV Shows of 2025
Television is out of timeout. After a pitiful 2024 saw only eight entries on my usual top 10 list, I’m pleased to announce the return of a complete top 10. While the medium rebounded, its quality c…

Elimination of emissions standards was one of the pretty clear policy stakes of the 2024 election and it received about 1% as much coverage as whether Tim Walz retiring from the national guard after 21 years was cowardly.
“The U.S. no longer has emission standards of any meaning,” said Margo T. Oge, who served as the E.P.A.’s top vehicle emissions regulator under three presidents and has since advised both automakers and environmental groups…

“Nothing. Zero,” she added. “Not many countries have zero.”

I feel this way about pretty much all vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. You shouldn't be allowed to dump cyanide into municipal drinking water and you shouldn't be allowed to recreationally spread viruses around shared public spaces.
My most authoritarian opinion is that the MMR vaccine should be mandatory, with only medical (not religious or floofy) exemptions allowed. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

I'm seeing a lot of "This is exactly what Trump wants" about Minneapolis. I don't believe that's the case. He and Vance and Miller had the racist daydream that video of black Somalis being snatched off the streets of nice white Minneapolis would play well. He got this instead. >

stop assuming they don't know how to do their jobs and start realizing they just disagree with us on what their jobs are
Message to fellow journalists (and anyone claiming to be one): do not “police-involved shooting” executions in broad daylight.

Obfuscating language like that is completely journalistically unnecessary and, even worse, sanitizes reality.

Words have meaning. Use the right ones.

Just yesterday DHS was taunting us on social media. Now they've come to our city and killed a legal observer. How much more can we take? We are being invaded and shot by our own government for the purposes of generating content for a mob of Nazis on the internet.

one takeaway from the grok noncon porn thing is that much of the media just isn't interested in an issue they can't pretend has two sides or that doesn't give them an opportunity to shit on the left. Also it would be uncomfortable to justify remaining on twitter after acknowledging it
