I FUCKEN FINISHED!!! As always, it took me 2 months, but I got there in the end.
The final illustration of a pink silkmoth with beige and brown upper wings and vibrant pink lower wings. Oh, and an incredibly fluffy body. A close up showing the detail of the furry wings.

🧵 I think it would help if people stopped ‘feeling’ whether or not a person or party is/was extreme or far right.

There’s actually a fairly respected definition. Let me take you through it & then you can decide if someone meets the definition. This is aimed, in particular, at journos [1]

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have made a HUGE breakthrough towards a UNIVERSAL antiviral. By targeting sugar molecules found on the surface of many viruses that SHARE structural similarities, they identified FOUR compounds that successfully BLOCKED infections from SEVEN different viruses.

It's common for some birds swallow small rocks, most likely to aid digestion by grinding food already in their stomachs. Here's a Merlin (Falco columbarius) getting caught in the act.

A brown raptor takes a stone in its beak. The bird begins to swallow the stone whole, its beak wide open. The bird turns and looks directly into the camera as if it knows it's been perceived.

not to make everything about myself, but I would argue this is true of science & academia. everything is so underfunded and unstable that anyone speaking up risks losing access to projects they've worked on for 10, 15, 20 years. the money people know we want to do good, and they use it against us.

this "passion tax" appears all over the place & should be talked about more. you see it in book stores and game stores all the time

excitement for particular work is constantly weaponized to depress wages & pit workers against each other
screenshot of a paragraph from op's linked article

Claudy pointed to what he calls the “passion tax.” Game workers, he said, often get paid less than their tech industry counterparts because they’re passionate about what they do, and passion can be taken advantage of. Microsoft is a tech company, making discrepancies all the more arbitrary.

What's the difference between clams 🦪 and brachiopods?

At first glance, brachiopods might trick you into thinking they're clams or mussels—but don’t be fooled!

Missed the last #invertfest so here's some of my #bug pics (broader term)

Order, species or genra in the appearing position :
#beetle, #cassida genra
#jumpingspider, likely #icius genra
#millipede, likely #julidae order
#longhornbeetle, Leiopus femoratus

#insects #spider #myriapod #sciart
A photo of a green bug on a green background. It positionned on a dogwood's leaf near the ridge. It sports two tiny and very cute antennas. Species is Cassida sp. A photo of a jumping spider hiding in the space between two wood planks on my deck. Its head has a white top, a dark brown band on the eyes and white pedipalps. It looks very cute. Might be Icius genra. A photo of a finger near a millipede to show how small it is. The background is bark. The millipede is very dark. Most likely from the Julida order. A picture of a longhorn beetle on top of a blade of grass. Its antennas are orange-brown and 1.5 times the size of its body. The elytras are grey with tiny spots and they have a black band on the third of it at the bottom. Species is Leiopus femoratus.
