A jumped-up egg. I can neither confirm nor deny that I am the Queen of the May.

So the obvious thing to do here is ask him again *next* time, after he's had a helpful heads-up and additional time to research the matter. Why let things slide? @mkraju.bsky.social
Whether out of rational prisoner’s-dilemma calculation, or as a screw-you emotional response to betrayal, or any mixture of the two.
Also, the real, main reason is: Trump knows he’s trapped in a criminal conspiracy with a lot of other ppl, and that anything that can be interpreted as a sign he’s ready to underbus one of his co-conspirators can be taken by *any* of the others as the signal to defect first themselves.
Glass half full: as a South Asian Muslim who’s rocketing up in US politics he doesn’t *have* to say or do anything further to stick his finger in the eye of the local racists. He can just smile and talk about how he loves ice cream and that’s enough to boil their piss.
It would hit a lot of the themes: RETVRN fantasies and a search for community, women ‘in their place’, anti-GWOT, antisemitism, a transgressive aspect to scandalise the normies …
I’ve got €0.50 riding on a 4chan swing to extremist Islam within the next decade or so. It would be better than this, quite frankly.
I’m sure Soares’ maths and ML skills are not up to what ML research now requires, but on the other hand this claim is clearly over the top. The Swiss patent office wasn’t any kind of research institute.
Why fight that reaction? It’s entirely correct: people are bad and stupid. The irrational belief which needs to be fought with conscious effort is that this is exclusively true of Trump supporters or other outsiders.

Owen is right to highlight this. As taxpayers, we already paid. All this will do is introduce higher prices to all consumers and businesses.
This GOTT guidance is Treasury-brained and low-key hostile to #opendata – it starts from the premise that organisations in the UK public sector should look to commercially exploit "their" knowledge assets, with no real expectation that they should prioritise the wider public interest.
I also have a hunch that some number of the Republicans who didn’t approve were simply lying that they hadn’t seen it in a vague attempt to preserve some kind of deniability.
You know it's right. The US 22nd amendment isn't seriously Trump-proof. It's just about FDR-proof, which is probs about all it was intended to be. TBH it doesn't even matter that much any more: if you get to 2028 and somehow Trump still looks like he could win then you're probably burgered anyway.
It remained relatively obscure even at the time. If you weren’t following tech news you could easily miss it.
Trump trying to resist putting on the crown is a George Costanza subplot. Maybe that’s the plan?! Unfortunately this crown is too funny and Asian-looking so he may be put off by that. bsky.app/profile/mbdr...
Not to be seen wearing it would require self-control which he doesn’t have. It’s the most cunning way possible to help get rid of him.
They didn’t bother to poll for Badenoch? Oof.
In fact I suspect the real resentment these people feel towards Mamdani is nearer the opposite: an idea that he's a parvenu or a blow-in (viz. bsky.app/profile/mbdr...). But of course you can't (yet) openly accuse someone of being a parvenu in the US nowadays, so you end up with this instead.
When /We're Only In It For The Money/ www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnKX... started to feel of the moment again in 2021 it was a bad sign.

I would be a bit surprised if a US national-level official goes that far, but I do agree there's a good chance that the 4chan katamari will veer in that direction at some time in maybe the next decade or so, especially if Trump and white nationalism start looking passé. bsky.app/profile/mbdr...

But also, being mildly positive on both Hitler and Stalin is not an unheard-of thing in the US; in fact it's a viewpoint which is of a piece with Trump's vision of a world of big global power blocs jostling and horsetrading.

"It is curious that in all his talk about the struggle for power, Burnham never stops to ask why people want power."

Also the cool uniforms, industrialisation, moustache and being Stronk overall. But also specifically because of the antisemitism, I’m pretty sure: for someone like Fuentes who fancies himself a connoisseur Hitler’s the starter pack but Stalin’s a really solid mainstream pick.
