I mean, it’s Jaws, which I watched for the one millionth time for this story. I also showed Back to the Future and E.T. and the original King King to my son this year.

But as far as new-to-me non-2025 movies go, I’d have to say the Mike Nichols / Jules Feiffer collaboration Carnal Knowledge.

In February, @subpop.bsky.social came to me with an idea that I found hard to resist: @clppng.bsky.social wanted to play the Tiny Desk, like, ON the actual desk... with MIDI-controlled robots striking coffee mugs and shaking paper clips.

It's finally here.

We are now, as of today, 10 years past the future as it was portrayed in 1989 in Back to the Future Part II. (Which is crazy.)

My main takeaway from putting this story together: Danbury hockey is … kinda crazy.

The Hat Tricks’ season is 10 days old, and they’ve had three players suspended by the league.

One of those players — the one who was part of a fight literally two seconds into the first game — has since retired.
Come for the fights, stay for the fun: CT’s pro hockey season begins
Here’s the thing, Connecticut: The NHL may be long gone, but we’ve got three pro hockey teams here right now, today. Danbury’s got the Hat Tricks. And we’ve got two affiliated minor league teams, the ...

The Rock’s prestige indie biopic made $6.0 million.

Before One Battle After Another, the biggest domestic weekend for any PTA picture was $4.9 million.

That said, I can’t imagine that anyone thought The Smashing Machine would not be the smallest box office opening of The Rock’s career so far.

That last sentence goes a bit too far for me (I carry a Wikipedia machine around in my pocket every day — and it makes calls, too!), but I did truly love my TiVo back in the day.

And I semi-frequently think about how that was maybe the best TV ever got.

The pioneer in digital video recording has officially ceased selling its DVR.

TiVo changed my life, and cloud DVRs will never match its precision and user-friendliness. It's the best piece of consumer electronics I've ever used.
