In Chicago, a woman was driving to get coffee when a DHS vehicle fleeing an angry crowd crashed into her car. Armed agents jumped out of the vehicle, yanked her door open, pulled her by the legs out of her car at gunpoint, held her incommunicado for hours, then released her with no charges.
I am as we speak filing my suit to force CBS to air the unedited interview
Watching CBS interview with Trump and pleading once again: stop interviewing this guy. He will filibuster (lol) and lie and avoid answering; he’ll broadcast further misinformation. No one is a good enough interviewer to crack him bc it is not really an interview.

After repeatedly requesting permission and following all the official guidelines, Catholic bishop, priests, sisters and lay people were refused permission to distribute Communion to migrants in ICE detention center, on All Saints Day. A religious freedom issue: www.ncronline.org/news/ice-aga...

For men in politics, it’s a more serious fashion statement not to wear a suit than to wear one. That said: A suit can still say something.

Zohran Mamdani’s suiting in particular has been a clinic in dressing on-message.
Analysis | Mamdani’s suits and ties send a clever message
These aren’t your dad’s suits and ties that Mamdani is wearing. They’re your groomsmen’s.

This! And not just US--like, parking lots all over Qatar are already covered by umbrellas; the solar potential is huge
South Korea has mandated solar canopies for large parking lots. It's a no-brainer. We could offer firms incentives to do it here, or they could just friggin' do it! (H/t @assaadrazzouk.bsky.social)

Here's a little sumptin' I put together a while back...
What if Walmart turned its parking lots into solar farms?
We asked experts to help crunch the numbers.

I sure hope Kamala Harris has a lawsuit ready to go demanding that the unedited 60 Minutes Trump interview be released.

By a 2 to 1 margin, Americans say Trump has gone too far in trying to expand the power of the presidency and lay off government workers. And by large margins, they say he has gone too far in sending troops into cities, attacking universities and ending DEI programs.
3 in 5 Americans disapprove of Trump's job performance, the highest level since after the Jan. 6 attack. Americans disapprove even of his handling of issues historically favorable to him like immigration, crime and the economy. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
Voters divided on midterms despite broad Trump disapproval, poll finds
Most Americans disapprove the president’s handling of top issues, and a majority say he has gone too far in exercising his powers.

I was a little horrified by the calling the line judge a cocksucker bit, but the kid’s super into tennis and finds it inspiring!

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

It’s still remarkable that Disney produced - and released - this segment in 1940. A horror short that should rank with its Universal monster movie contemporaries… The animation is lush and experimental, and really shows off the Disney special animated effects team…

On the occasion of Halloween, @newrepublic.com asked me to write about what’s going on in Chicago and I wanted you all to know what randomized terror feels like. And also that as the federal government fails our kids, everyday Chicagoans are showing the courage of trying to protect them.
ICE Is Terrorizing Chicago for Halloween—and Parents Are Fighting Back
Fear and a whiff of tear gas hang over festivities this year. In response, even people who aren’t usually politically engaged are mobilizing.
