I am truly shocked to not find more thinkpieces on the incredible graphic design and typography of Zohran Mamdani’s campaign but maybe that’s because searching on the internet is garbage now.

TL;DR lead designer was Aneesh Bhoopathy of Forge Co-Op

So here’s the thing: this man is why you believe in ppl’s capacity to change. You either want ppl to suffer for their decisions, or you want them to come around and join us. Anger is fine; hatred will ruin you.

Wanting ppl to suffer is a fascist mindset. Period. It’s not leftist or progressive.
He spent decades bringing the religious right to power. Now he's marching to undo it.

Rev. Rob Schenck spent decades helping build the Religious Right—commingling church and state to advance conservative causes. Now, he says he must confront the damage he helped cause.

Even if Trump has dementia the people enabling & encouraging him at every turn don’t. The invisible people who every day come to work & carry out his agenda in tiny ways that add up instead of using their position to quietly gum up the works are largely cognitively acute.

They are problems too.

part of this is like, conservatives projecting; part of this is conservatives unable to imagine politics without money; and part of this is dudes who are so out of touch with feminized labor that they think children's birthday parties exist as a spontaneous act of parthogenesis
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

I looked into Cities Church, which was protested for having an ICE agent as a pastor.

You already thought they were right-wing. But they're far worse than you thought.

They're ground zero for the "empathy is a sin" idea, among others.

The pro-ICE church is worse than you think

There are people trying to stop others from using whistles, and next they'll say it's ableism.

As your disability advocate friend, I will be the first with serious sensory sensitivity to say that I would rather be in pain than someone get abducted, or shot.

Block/mute this argument, it's an op.

If you don’t understand what you’re doing maybe you should uhhhhh find a different job?

Bullshit.

He should resign if he’s this stupid.

We are a country in which a majority can witness (what most of us now think of as) an authoritarian nightmare scenario at Kent State in 1970 and approve of it...AND ALSO a country a majority can look back at Kent State and think "that was bad and we shouldn't do that again."

Following the Kent State massacre in May 1970, a Gallup poll showed that 58% of Americans thought the shootings were justified. The night *before* the killings, Ohio's GOP governor described the student protesters this way: "They're the worst type of people that we harbor in America."

During the Soviet era, at times of govt instability, the state broadcaster would typically preempt scheduled broadcasts by airing performances of Swan Lake
And, tonight, the network's flagship news program -- 60 Minutes -- ran a clip show of old celeb interviews to "celebrate the movies" rather than put together an episode focused on what's going on in Minnesota.
The person who publishes the Free Press — where the words “Minneapolis” and “Minnesota” never appear tonight — also runs CBS News.

People should have left TikTok last year when they pulled that stunt to force a sale. It's never too late (although it sounds like they may have disabled the ability to delete your account so maybe it is too late).

Even if you can't delete your account you can get that shit off your phone.

I just found out Alex Pretti, the man killed by ICE agents yesterday, travelled to Riverwest in Milwaukee to participate in the Riverwest 24, a 24-hour bike ride/race, for at least the last two years. I wrote a book ("Bike Lanes are White Lanes") and one chapter is dedicated to the Riverwest 24.

this is the most Midwestern thing you could ever write.

it's not about being SEEN. it's about doing. and about taking care of your neighbor in a simple, straightforward way.

just existing in the upper Midwest is hard enough. you take care of your neighbors. period.

The majority of organizing happening in Minnesota isn’t just peaceful, it’s INVISIBLE. Moms showing up who won’t be interviewed on TV, people whose ICE patrols don’t turn into viral video. The grocery runs, the donations, the people filming bc they happen to be there. Please remember this.

An insane, perfect encapsulation of it all:

The same day Trump’s agents kill a Veterans Affairs ICU nurse in broad daylight, the CEOs of Apple and Amazon join Trump to watch a private screening of a film about his wife directed by an alleged sexual abuser who was seen shirtless in the Epstein Files
