The fact that this is turning into OpenAI office space is such a depressing sign of the times.

That place “wonder” is trying to do to actual restaurants what Uber did to cabs. It is the work of satan and you are his minion if you order from there

Started reading this and was like “I’ll bet it’s - yep, yep, Argyle.” Nastiest bastards in the business.

New: landlords are demanding potential tenants hand over employer login credentials so a tool can verify their income. We were sent screenshot of the tool, Argyle, downloading much more data than necessary to approve the renter. "Opt-out means no housing" www.404media.co/landlords-de...

Bc Coworker supported many worker-led campaigns to repeal beard bans at places like Publix, I can tell you that 1) yes, this targets Black people and people who have beards for religious reasons and 2) this shit is always unevenly enforced and used as a proxy to punish and discipline.

reminder that this directive functionally massively discriminates against Black men and should be understood as part of an ongoing campaign to resegregate the military www.military.com/daily-news/2...

Losing does not mean the struggle shouldn’t be waged, and losing doesn’t mean sacrificing the humanity of the marginalized. This isn’t difficult, and yet.

of all the things about ta-nehisi coates’s philosophy i wish people would internalize the main one is: sometimes you lose
michelleimiller.bsky.social
Klein’s inability to accept “sometimes you lose” as mere fact, alongside his unwillingness to stretch beyond a couple decades back is illuminating of what happens when your politics is detached from any commitment to a movement or rooted in a community.

This was revealing. Worth reading. The basic demand is that Coates spend less time thinking/writing his true feelings and more time playing political strategist. Klein asks him over and over him to do Dem strategy; he says no, over and over. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/o...

I'm working on a project that gives me an up close look at an attempted AI integration and even I, a skeptic if there ever was one, am surprised at the complexity and difficulty of making AI a productive part of the workflow. Which is to say, no surprises here: www.theatlantic.com/economy/arch...
Just How Bad Would an AI Bubble Be?
The entire U.S. economy is being propped up by the promise of productivity gains that seem very far from materializing.

What keeps haunting me about this idiotic "let's fix The Magnificent Ambersons with AI!" proposal is that the whole reason the footage vanished is because the studio didn't value & protect Welles' edit. The part that's missing & will always be missing is what _he_ would have done. You can't AI that.

The good news here is that this could potentially unleash the angry ghost of Orson Welles on all these goofballs, finally putting an end to the madness of the past fews years.

Also if you own a rent stabilized building in NYC (by definition minimum 6 units) you're not "mom and pop." That's a term clearly intended to connote homeowners renting out a second unit in their home, which is never a stabilized unit!

thank you for affirming my experience it was a nightmare.

My mom-and-pop landlord lied about planning to move in to my apartment so she could push me out then jacked the rent up by $1500 for the next renter. She also installed giant nutcrackers outside that played xmas music from nov - feb which isn't material to this but really got on my nerves.
