Cool that the thread specifies *published* books, because to be absolutely clear nobody wants to hear about our unpublished books

One way I am quite philosophically conservative is I do basically think that knowledge of logic (like the traditional discipline including in its modern mathematical format) makes one better at following and reconstructing ordinary language arguments, and thus should be mandatory for grad students.

all told tough goal to concede but a moment of individual brilliance (like Vitinha's near assist from 20 mins earlier). if nothing else, we are certainly playing at the right level today. a few more mins worth of possession and we're very much in this #COYS

People say you shouldn't say "AI" because it lets people conflate ChatGPT with the protein-folding thing or whatever but you can't just say "LLM" because as I understand it that doesn't include all the image generation stuff, and the term that would also cover images is "GenAI", which has "AI" in it

It's really weird that they're both a gov obsessed with winning the next election with no idea what that entails and that the strategy for an incumbent gov winning an election years down the line might be a bit different to the strategy for an opposition with a poll lead 8 weeks before election day

Faisal Islam and others are talking about the OBS report leak 2 hours early as "historic" and "catastophic". Why? Who cares? Boo-hoo, Reeves' literal speech wasn't quite the exact moment a few hundred people learned the details. What an asbolutely weird bubble Westmister correspondents live in!

Now they're up to $108bn and $99.3bn, and are two of the world's three richest people; it's curious to me because it doesn't feel especially like 2025 has been the Year Of Google
The two Google guys have each become over $80bn richer this year, which is more than Ellison, Huang, or anyone else (with the possible exception of Mike Bloomberg who remains excluded from the data) www.bloomberg.com/billionaires/

Obviously a tongue-in-cheek expression, but I actually do think this matters quite a lot and is in some ways harder to think through normatively than more familiar axes of privilege
I have long maintained that the true privilege in society is "pretty and likeable" where is the social justice for us ugly and annoying people?
