it's funny af that the Wellington council is more left than it was before. if little does try to stall urbanist initiatives I suspect we're in for a repeat of foster's tenure, of working around the mayor to actually get stuff done.

The new Wellington City Council will include 5 Labour councillors and 4 Green councillors, plus Andrew Little, giving the two party "coalition" an increased governing majority - 10 out of 16 votes, compared to 8 under the previous council.

finished the book. it has some general good advice mixed in with some dubious scientific claims, and the way it talks about Japanese/"Eastern" practices had me looking up "orientalism" to make sure I was using that word right.

all the advice in this book is somewhat undercut by the knowledge that the real Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life is to have all your birth records bombed in a war so nobody can verify if you are as old as you say you are. also don't read this book if you have an eating disorder.
