So three days ago my tween was like ‘why would anyone do luge? How do you EVEN get into it?’ - and just now was screaming at the TV ‘no that’s too high of a line! What ARE you DOING?!?’
I love the Olympics.

I’m beginning every panel I chair for the rest of my career with this frontal attack…
If Bad Bunny can cover the history of Puerto Rico, colonialism, transatlantic slavery, hemispheric consciousness, as well as contemporary life and politics in under 14 minutes, you can do your 15- or 20-minute conference presentation with time to spare.

🇳🇴 Johan-Olav Botn pointing up to the heavens after crossing in 1st. It would seem an impossibly scripted moment. Yet there was Botn, skiing with the strength of 2 men, bringing home🥇for himself & Bakken. "I hope he was watching today" Johan-Olav, I promise you he was

🇫🇷 Talked about it at length but Eric Perrot's maturity amazes me. He could have been bummed not to win gold. But he was so jovial, joking and hugging with Johan-Olav Botn. And you KNOW he wants gold more than anything, but he's able to be happy for Botn. I love it!

🇳🇴 Johan-Olav Botn winning today seems like a dream. It's the sports movie finale. After the nightmare of finding his good friend Sivert Bakken passed away, followed by illness that sapped his January, he rebounds with a sterling race to take 🥇 in his Olympic debut race!

Hi, folks. I’m looking for at least one more person to create a panel for AHA 2027. I have a working paper on the legacies of the Indian slave trade in the 20th and 21st centuries and I’m working with someone who is focusing on slave patrols and the Southern system. Anyone interested? #historians
