I just (finally) registered for the NYC Gaza 5k to raise money for UNRWA mental health services. If you've got a few bucks (or many), please consider chipping in to support an organization standing in the gap getinvolved.unrwausa.org/fundraiser/6...

Crucial article (& 🧵) on how ill-equipped many in the media are to meet the moment. Both-sidesing reality against lies and propaganda designed to facilitate violent repression is not just journalistic malpractice. It is active complicity in fascist violence

This week, MAGA figures claimed Kristi Noem "stared down" violent antifa protesters in Portland. Turns out they were talking mostly about a guy in a chicken suit.

This episode opens a window into how MAGA propaganda works and MSM failure to handle it. 1/

MAGA Implodes over Kristi Noem’s “Stare Down” with Man in Chicken Suit
A good New York Times piece on Portland nevertheless demonstrates how the conventions of objective reporting fail to accurately capture the bad faith driving pro-Trump propaganda.

The Supreme Court of the United States is not a legitimate body.
leahlitman.bsky.social
More judges speak to the press (the NYT) about what a disaster the Supreme Court (specifically the shadow docket) has been - “incredibly demoralizing & troubling”; a “judicial crisis”; a “slap in the face to district courts.” www.nytimes.com/2025/10/11/u...

Medill School of Journalism is awfully quiet about the full on fascist assault against journalists in its own backyard. (Then again, Dean Whitaker has played his part in trying to punish journalists himself for allegedly obstructing police...)

There’s a rally today in support of NY AG Letitia James in response to the specious and corrupt allegations against her by the Trump admin. @mollyroberts.bsky.social also wrote a great piece breaking down how flimsy the charges are at @lawfaremedia.org www.lawfaremedia.org/article/next...
Grainy gray background with bold letters on top that read, “Solidarity Rally, Hands Off Tish James, Friday (10/10) Foley Square at 5:30”

I also hope it holds. And the IOF treating a ceasefire start time as a deadline by which to slaughter as many people as possible is not new. But I still hold hope that it will hold, and the IOF will allow food, water, and medicine in. And cynicism is well-earned
mkranz.bsky.social
Meanwhile, in even mainstream news… while there’s a “ceasefire,” it’s unclear if the IOF will cease… firing… wtaf. And I read the IOF bombed a family’s home in Gaza City. 4 were confirmed killed. 7 hospitalized. Nearly 40 are still buried under the rubble
Screenshot from CNN World (with the logo in the top left). Excerpted text read, “However, it is not clear if the Israeli Prime Minister's Office has given the order to the Israel Defense Forces to cease fire.”

I couldn't imagine a more perfectly poetic example of saying the quiet part out loud than "we took the freedom of speech away"

@blackgirl3000.bsky.social y'all gotta visit Greg; in addition to doing some really dope work with "traditional" comics, he's got some really neat other projects (including stuff for the city) and is a wonderful human

How so? “Free speech zones” have always been a fundamentally anti-democratic concept, but GWB escalated the use of them notably. Now, Pritzker, for all his merits, is using them to repress protest against the illegal & violent actions of ICE in Illinois, even as he opposes the NG doing the same

I pray it holds this time. And that aid and healthcare and food and water can flow back in so those of y’all who’ve been able to survive have an actual chance at living as we all should be able to

I had no idea about the right to shelter consent decree (for roughly the past 45 years), so, now, not only am I excited to check out this piece, but I want to learn more about this right and how we can make it more of a reality than it’s been under Eric Adams

NYC "remains the only municipality in the US to guarantee the right to shelter, a commitment established through decades of advocacy + litigation. Public Address, by artist Alex Strada, is a citywide public artwork that centers the lived experience of those most impacted by housing insecurity."

Just a reminder that Jack published a book last year called “unhumans” that makes the argument that all Democrats and anyone left of Francisco Franco should be rounded up and murdered en mass for the rest of the populations entertainment.
Jack is a Nazi and hell bent on the murder of his opponents

Jack Posobiec explicitly says that "Antifa" dates back to the Weimar Republic, explicitly acknowledging that this administration is opposed to those who resisted the arrival of Adolf Hitler in Power.

Props 2-6 are starting to look a bit rosier on account of that news. Also, this seems very related to that story in @thecity.nyc about Menin handing out more cash than the other councilmembers. It’d be so cool if NY politics weren’t so deeply about patronage www.thecity.nyc/2025/09/29/c...
