I knew that Mamdani had it; he had the people and did the work, and has been the clearest and most lucid in rejecting the untenable current state of things. But the vile, bigoted shit against him was so constant, and I am conditioned to that working better than I want. This feels like an exorcism.

Political violence is evil, killing people is evil, a country with more guns in it than people is broken, and what the government is saying about political violence right now being a primarily leftwing phenomenon is factually, statistically untrue. They are using this moment to rewrite history.

"argu[ing] with civility" by using violent rhetoric, hate speech, and encouraging people in power to expel those with which he disagreed from their professions. People should mourn his death but to regard him as some kind of good faith interlocutor is hagiography masking itself as grace and reason.
He argued with civility. It's a start.
What disagreements, exactly, was he bridging via his work and words?
