I am as white as a hotel towel, and the closest thing to Mexican I am was a single all inclusive resort stay in Cancun. I put a Mexican flag sticker on my old Tacoma abd was promptly pulled over by ICE in San Antonio. I'm happy to waste their time

Good thread about how editing is way easier than writing so the goal of writing a first draft should just be to get placeholders onto paper so you have something to edit.

This is also great legal writing advice.

And it is a reminder that junior attorneys who are asked to do the first draft, only to have it revised or rewritten by more experienced attorneys, are in fact doing something that is very hard.

My playwriting professor talked about “vomiting out a first draft.” That concept has stuck with me for 20+ years. And one of his works that grew from a vomit draft won a Pulitzer!

ftr there is no complaint on file with pacer so the possiibility that the pro se filing is a prank is high and i wouldn't want to be the person whose pacer efile account it was submitted under. the other way you know it's fake is that it was filed in miami and not fort pierce.

The right is erasing bisexual, pansexual, transgender, and other queer identities on purpose. Don't be like them. Hold mental space for a broader range of possibilities than the ones you’re most familiar with.

A few times, I've heard people who knew I had a male partner describe me as straight, and I don’t always correct them because it's exhausting, awkward, and their incorrect assumptions don't affect me much. But be aware that good people often accidentally erase identities other than gay or straight.
