#a2council A friend expressed concern about the loss of single-family neighborhoods in Ann Arbor once the Comprehensive Land-Use Plan and associated zonings are adopted. I made some calculations based on the Portland experience. Here was my response: tinyurl.com/portlandtoa2
Dear friend
Dear friend -- I'm glad you followed up, and I always enjoy talking with you about these issues.  You asked about the future of single-family neighborhoods over the next few decades, once the Comprehe...

The online survey for the Ann Arbor Roadway Rightsizing project closes on December 19.

If you have not yet filled it out, please do so, and tell the project team to put safety for ALL road users first in their designs.

Today, I joined @moreneighborsa2.org at @aadl.org to pack lunches for the Food Gatherers. With so many facing hardship this holiday season, it is our collective duty to step up and make sure everyone in Ann Arbor has the support they need.

Friends and neighbors: Giving Tuesday is upon us! Our neighbors transitioning from homelessness need supplies, and federal cuts are making it harder for nonprofits like Avalon to provide them. Please consider making a gift to Avalon today and throughout the year.

Most of the buildable land in #AnnArbor -especially the high demand neighborhoods-has been downzoned for many decades. Now we live with the predictable consequences. #A2Council

WA AG Nick Brown is suing HUD over changes to its homeless housing grant program that could put thousands of currently housed people on the street in the Seattle area alone. The changes eliminate most funding for permanent housing and impose right-wing ideological requirements on programs.

When we’re doing city planning, why aren’t we asking simpler questions? Like “How could your life be easier if your city or community were different?”
i just want my kids to be able to walk to the store to get stuff so I don't have to.

Some critics lament new buildings being disproportionately rentals. But ownership can't be regulated by the land use plan or zoning. And all housing types are needed as rungs on the ladder to home ownership, for those who prefer that.

HUD may restrict funds for permanent housing for recently homeless people
Reports say the administration will cut funding for permanent housing by 70%, putting 170,000 people at risk of homelessness
This threatens $7 mil. and over 800 neighbors in Washtenaw County
