The drunk uncle theory.

You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there
agree with this (hah) but also think a particular mistake the left made for a long time online, and still makes to an extent, is failing to understand that the person whose mind you may actually change is the one reading the argument you're having, not the one you're arguing with
The secret to engaging in social media debate is knowing you will never win anyone over. The best you can hope for is to have people who already agree with tell you you're awesome. You might great a dopamine thrill from the righteousness of your anger! Fine benefits, all. But you will never win.

In Wales currently. I booked a pub for tomorrow lunch. We went to look at the menu and it had poor reviews. Puzzled, I went to cancel it and discovered the pub I’d actually booked was in Scotland!

I know the big thing on "tax billionaires" is "but it's unrealized gains, and those aren't real!!!"

Cool, bet. No tax on it. But since it's not real it can't be used as collateral for a loan. You want cash, you have to sell stock and realize the gain.
Tax billionaires out of existence. Break up any company that's "too big to fail."

ICE and CBP have regularly been documented wearing Meta's camera glasses, and the idea people are less likely to notice because they're distracted would be like Ring doorbell thinking nobody could connect dog searching to state surveillance. this is actually the least sneaky time in history for this

Last night I threw a pot on a wheel. Enormously fun and I loved the class. Two highlights however were the couple who arrived late, dressed to the nines and obviously unaware of what they’d actually booked, and the person who loudly said they’d done a seven month course, whose pots kept…failing!

I can attest, Samsung interface is the worst.
“Samsung’s QD-OLED panel itself is phenomenal, if nothing special in 2026. The problem is the software. I would pay Samsung $100, right now, for this “smart” TV to be as dumb as the ones I grew up with. ”
Why I wish I hadn’t bought my Samsung OLED TV — The Verge
In June 2024, in a dusty TV shop empty of customers save myself, my wife, and my kids, I stared deep into the LG C3 and Samsung S90C. I went back and forth between the two OLED screens for easily 20 m...
