I love @hamiltonnolan.bsky.social's proposal from years ago that we should jack up politician salaries but also they get a 100% marginal tax rate on everything they make above those salaries after they're no longer in office.
The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.
We need to pay elected leaders more money and stop pretending it's some sort of calling. They're managing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and millions of people's lives.

It's kind of wild that crypto scammers became *the single biggest source of political donations* in the last US election and barely anyone even noticed. These dipshits basically own both parties now and are getting whatever they want and there's been zero (0) public deliberation or debate about it.
Crypto's $245 million campaign finance operation filled airwaves with ads not about crypto
The crypto sector emerged as a top donor this election cycle, but the ads it funded weren't about digital currencies.

A movie like BUTCH CASSIDY & THE SUNDANCE KID would be essentially impossible to film right now because they don't make movie stars like that anymore. It's not a complex role, but there's not an actor alive who could play it. RIP Robert Redford.

If I live for awhile, I’ll have to write on the towering power of normalization in times of danger.
So fast.
So strong.
So dangerous.
We’re watching it in action.

We’re barely months into this and we’ve just completely normalized the domestic deployment of the military in America’s largest cities for no reason at all. Something that would have been a national scandal, if not immediately ended, any presidency from Truman to Obama. All for One Special Boy 🤷♂️🤦♂️

Rublev played at his absolute peak today and lost in four sets to an Alcaraz who I’m pretty sure was watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force inside his head for most of the match
Carlos Alcaraz won today at Wimbledon to make his 12th grand slam quarterfinal. He hasn't lost on grass in 18 matches, and he hasn't lost at all in 22, since April 20. He has 75 match wins in majors in 87 tries, matching a Johnny Mac/Borg record. He is 3 wins from his 6th Slam. He turned 22 in May.
