forgive me for sounding like one of the people writing the emails but from an artistic angle this is also the definition of what financial markets do
LLMs give people with delusional belief systems a way to organise those beliefs. The model fills in gaps, supplies connective tissue, and wraps the madness in formal language.
It doesn't make the claims more credible to us, it just tidies them up.

lol everybody in the slightest position of influence is just completely insane now and we have to accept that like it’s ok and normal

this happened to me!

mulla: i do not care for the tv newsman / band singer / likeable young liberal politician, he takes my implicit trust for granted

them: impudent cynicism! what hurt you in your infant days?
just wild to think that there was a time in living memory where you could be scolded in public for showing insufficient deference to ~50% of public figures

tbh as a more-than-certified hater i find it supremely weird to bemoan that any artist used chatgpt to write award applications

the creative problem there is precisely the wasteful bureaucracy in between artists and their money

even as a practical necessity, we should not esteem such applications!
i just reviewed 50+ applications for an arts award and most of them were written by chatgpt. And then the other reviewers said they put them into Gemini to rank them. At a certain point, if everyone is giving their thinking entirely over to AI, why are we even bothering with any of this anymore?

like, this is funny right? it’s funny that no.3 in particular beat no.2

it’s ok that i laughed out loud in a kind of sick hiss at the image of fat middle-aged men in suits making that decision and congratulating themselves on a sound well-argued choice?
the nominees were
-a campaign to get lifechanging medication for extremely sick children
-a campaign to improve access to justice for victims of rape and sexual assault
-a transphobic hate campaign that managed to convince some judges to make the worst ruling in Supreme Court history*

cis people: trans people are WEIRD and GROSS

also cis people: here's a real brain teaser. would you rather be accused of being a little bit fruity or a paedophile? take your time, there's no easy answers here and both are equally bad.

i think capital punishment is fitting for people who try to drive children to suicide
The “Pathways” trial is, IMO on more than one level, a thoroughly unethical piece of “research” to be carrying out on children, especially children who are part of a marginalised minority.

the supreme court is, obviously and exhaustingly, wrong.
11/ It is clear that the Regulations referenced the medico-legal fact of gender reassignment, and it does modify the interpretation of sex and gendered terms. No reference was made to the religious or legal fiction of a so-called biological sex.

The Supreme Court is wrong.

british people love to hang out with the nazi countries in europe, “oh i’m going to croatia again this year”, “in denmark they steal jewelry from asylum seekers”, “they have anti-muslim cartoons in france”
I'm sorry but any report that uncritically says assets would be seized "to pay for" costs is just parroting government propaganda. Confiscations are dreamed up as a punitive deterrent, not a sincere attempt at a funding mechanism.

SO BY THE WAY IF YOU HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT DEEPER ISSUES WITH THE SUPREME COURT DECISION ITSELF AND CURRENT UK TRANS POLITICS BEYOND THE HEADLINES (AND HEADLINE ARGUMENTS) WE’VE ALL BEEN DISCUSSING TO DEATH LET ME KNOW SO I DON’T LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT COMPAINING FROM MY ARMCHAIR
perhaps i’m wrong and there’s a lot of other stuff being discussed, so that’s why i’m asking the question i’m asking

certainly in the spring there was a lot of talk about chromosome scanners and birth certificate stops at toilets, but that’s dropped off a lot in my perception
November 12, 2025 at 11:58 PM
and while i’m at this “narcissism of pick up on small details” kick, can anybody explain to me why there has not been a MASSIVE push to challenge the Supreme Court’s decision to introduce the term “biological sex” into law?

are we still trying to claim that the EHRC (not SC) is the problem?
Maitlis is unable to refer to “GIDS”, and names ”the Tavistock clinic” and says ”The Tavistock” was closed by her work

the Tavi, being an ENTIRE NHS MENTAL HEALTH TRUST, is still open

i genuinely do not believe journos ever developed the understanding to appreciate even such basic stuff

it may seem like a small thing but i have had to correct people who were given the impression by all of this reporting for years that “The Tavistock“ was a gender clinic for kids!

if you are unable to differentiate one tiny service from the entire institution which houses it, you have been misled!

the academic fetish for making things explicit, which obscures how much everybody else is well fucking aware of what’s going on, they’re just saying it in a language you’ve forgotten how to speak (which is not to fetishise that language, it sucks almost as bad as yours does!)
right but the way that “regular people do evil things” is that evil is structural: anybody could do it because all they have to do is fit into the structure

people do actually understand this, and focusing on the nitpick treats them as separate points and obscures their connection
There is a (in my view, deliberate) overemphasis of Hannah Arendt’s remarks about the ‘banality of evil’ and regular people doing evil things versus a more urgent point she makes about the farce of trying to locate the evils of the Final Solution in the body of one man because Nazism was structural.

I sometimes worry about this fascination with how apparently normal people can do things of extreme cruelty - I guess it’s good because it makes us more vigilant, I just worry about being bewitched by the charm of the monster www.theguardian.com/film/2025/no...
